The opportunity
We're looking for a Senior Backend Developer who understands how solid engineering underpins great product experiences. In this role, you'll join one of our feature squads, taking projects from inception to delivery and owning key aspects of system design, data architecture, and performance.
This role is open to fully remote candidates within Australia or those who'd like to work from our head office in Ultimo, Sydney.
What You'll DoDesign, build and maintain backend systems and services that power our platform. Depending on the squad you join, this could be building new learning experiences, accelerating content authoring, improving classroom management or empowering students and teachers with advanced analytics.Extend and evolve our backend stack, currently built with TypeScript (NestJS) and PHP (Laravel) microservices.Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver thoughtful, scalable backend solutionsWork with relational and non-relational databases, including MySQL and DynamoDBContribute to our GraphQL federation strategy and help integrate backend services into a unified API layerEnsure performance, scalability, testing, and reliability are first-class concerns in everything you buildMentor mid-level and junior engineers, helping them grow while leading by exampleWhat You'll Bring to AtomiProven experience as a Senior Backend Developer, ideally within a fast-moving product or SaaS environmentDeep expertise in backend development using modern frameworks and toolsExperience with TypeScript and/or PHP.
