Job description

REALTIME are on the lookout for a UK based Senior In-Engine Lighting Artist to join us on a freelance basis to support on our latest Cinematic projects.

As a Senior Lighting Artist, you’ll play a key role in shaping the visual storytelling of our projects. You’ll work closely with the VFX Supervisor and Lighting Lead to design and implement high-quality lighting that enhance mood, depth, and realism.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and implement complex lighting setups to achieve artistic goals.
  • Collaborate with the team to create lighting solutions.
  • Optimise lighting while maintaining quality.
  • Collaborate with your lead, our directors, and production to align lighting with the overall creative vision.
  • Develop lighting setups and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably required.

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficiency with Unreal Engine for lighting, working with the latest tools to create exciting scenes full of depth.
  • Strong knowledge of other software packages including Houdini, Maya, Substance Suite, and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with colour grading and HDR workflows.

MUST-HAVE SKILLS & QUALITIES:

  • Excellent understanding of lighting principles, colour theory, and post-processing effects.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality lighting work in real-time engines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Solid troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.

BONUS:

  • Experience with ray tracing or virtual production lighting.
  • Knowledge of camera setups and cinematic composition.
  • Background in shader development or scripting.
