Job description

 

The Program for Implementation and Equity Research (PIER) within the Center for Public Health and Human Rights in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant with a strong interest in HIV research, adolescent health, and implementation science. The position will be housed within the Department of International Health, with the opportunity for cross-departmental collaboration with Center faculty, staff and students. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting literature reviews, supporting IRB applications, and engaging in ad hoc quantitative and qualitative analyses to support ongoing research activities across a robust research portfolio in Southern Africa. Research activities will predominately align with the objectives of a NIH-funded K01 focused on optimizing ART delivery for adolescent girls and young women living with HIV; as well as other projects led by Center faculty focused on youth, sex workers, and other populations historically marginalized from the HIV response. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in adolescent health, women’s health, and supporting the development of methods and tools to advance HIV and implementation science to address the health and rights of key populations; and will have an interest in leading analyses and publications.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support systematic, scoping or other evidence-based literature reviews through title and abstract screening, data abstraction, and synthesis.
  • Support preparation of IRB applications.
  • Clean, manage, and analyze quantitative data using statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SAS, among others).
  • Support preparation of reports and deliverables for funders and collaborators.
  • Lead or contribute to the writing of manuscripts.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's d\Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in related discipline (public health, international health, epidemiology).
  • Proficiency in R and RStudio, STATA, SAS, or other statistical software.
  • Experience conducting and/or leading systematic, scoping, or other evidence-based reviews related to HIV and/or reproductive health.
  • Experience in analyzing quantitative and/or qualitative data from implementation science studies.
  • Operational knowledge of implementation science frameworks, theories, and methods.
  • Experience working with HIV implementation programs and/or program evaluation and data management with a focus on adolescents and young adults.
  • Adept in effectively communicating through strong oral and writing skills, including timely responsiveness to communications in person and by email.
  • Prior collaborative research experience a plus.
