Purpose Statement: Lead and scale a world-class software engineering organization that consistently delivers high-quality, innovative solutions—enabling Rev.io to exceed its software development goals, with a 10x output improvement target between the end of 2024 and the end of 2026. 

About the role: As the Vice President of Software Engineering at Rev.io, you will be a strategic, hands-on leader responsible for building and driving the next generation of our SaaS billing and monetization platform. Reporting to the VP of Product and serving on the company’s operating leadership team, you will lead a rapidly growing engineering organization to deliver a 10x improvement in engineering output over a two-year horizon. 

This role requires a growth-minded executive who can design and implement scalable systems, processes, and team structures to support our expansion goals. We are on a mission to more than double our current engineering capacity in the next 12 months. You will shape the organizational strategy across engineering, architecture, QA, and product execution to support that growth while maintaining excellence in quality, velocity, and outcomes. 

Currently, the engineering team consists of approximately 42 professionals, with company headcount exceeding 160. You will lead a blend of greenfield initiatives and continuous evolution of our core systems, empowering your team to innovate and solve complex technical challenges in a high-autonomy environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic & Organizational Leadership 

  • Define and execute a scalable engineering vision that achieves a 10x output improvement between end of 2024 and end of 2026. 
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and align on long-term business and technical strategy. &nbsp
  • Partner with the CTO, VP of Product, and Principal Architect to shape our technical roadmap and drive execution. 
  • Lead the design and implementation of an organization-wide engineering structure to support aggressive growth targets. 

Talent Development & Team Growth 

  • Recruit and retain high-impact engineering talent, with a focus on hiring force multipliers who elevate the team around them. 
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence by raising the bar with each new hire. 
  • Develop clear career progression models and mentorship programs that help individuals grow into larger roles and responsibilities. 
  • Drive a performance culture through effective hiring, onboarding, coaching, and development aligned with team and business goals. &nbsp
  • Leverage your professional network to identify and attract top-tier technical talent who thrive in fast-paced, outcomes-driven environments. 

Operational Excellence & Process Improvement 

  • Champion a culture of engineering excellence by continuously reducing waste and improving process effectiveness across the SDLC. 
  • Implement agile methodologies to optimize throughput, predictability, and adaptability across teams. 
  • Define and monitor KPIs to track and enhance engineering productivity, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction. 
  • Refine and scale engineering processes covering product management, design, development, testing, deployment, and QA. 
  • Lead improvements to onboarding and internal tooling that support team growth and long-term velocity gains. 

Product & Engineering Execution 

  • Lead all aspects of product engineering including sprint planning, backlog management, requirements gathering, and delivery. 
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with product and business strategy. 
  • Maintain high standards of software quality through established best practices, peer review, automated testing, and QA governance. 
  • Empower engineering leads and managers by eliminating blockers, securing resources, and providing strategic guidance. 

Client & Market Understanding 

  • Gain deep understanding of Rev.io’s SaaS business model and how technology drives value for our clients. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to translate customer needs and market insights into technical priorities. 
  • Balance short-term product delivery needs with long-term strategic investments to maximize business value. 

Qualifications 

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience. 
  • 10+ years in software development and architecture roles, with at least 5+ years in engineering leadership. 
  • Proven experience scaling teams in a high-growth SaaS or product-driven environment. 
  • Strong track record of technical leadership, organizational design, and driving measurable output improvement. 

Technical Skills & Stack Knowledge 

  • Expertise in large-scale, distributed systems architecture and high-performance platforms.
  • Strong understanding of agile development practices, engineering KPIs, and QA frameworks.
  • Hands-on familiarity with our preferred stack is a plus: 
  • Languages: C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core, SQL, Lua, React 
  • Databases: Microsoft SQL Server, Redis, MySQL, PostgreSQL 
  • DevOps & Tooling: Git (Bitbucket), GitHub, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, Selenium 
  • Project Management: JIRA, Confluence 
  • Support Tools: Zendesk
