Student Counsellor – DCOIL ( Center for Occupational and Industry-Linked Learning)

Position: Student Counsellor
Department: Student Enrolment and Student Success
Location: DCOIL, DPG College, Gurgaon
Reports to: Admissions Head/Student Success Lead

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Student Enrolment:
  • Guide prospective students through the admissions process, providing detailed information about courses, certifications, and career opportunities.
  • Conduct student interviews and assessments to understand their academic backgrounds, goals, and aspirations.
  • Assist with application processing, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time.
  • Organize and participate in campus tours, virtual information sessions, and recruitment fairs.
  • Engage with potential students via email, phone, and in-person meetings to answer inquiries and address concerns.
  • Maintain a database of prospects and follow up with interested candidates regularly.
  1. Student Success:
  • Act as a mentor to enrolled students, guiding them through their academic journey from onboarding to course completion.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration to identify students at risk and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Assist students in setting academic and career goals and provide resources for personal development.
  • Monitor student progress through regular check-ins, academic assessments, and performance tracking.
  • Facilitate workshops and seminars on study skills, career planning, and personal growth.
  • Work closely with the Placement Team to ensure students are prepared for internships, projects, and job placements.
  1. Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and educational partners.
  • Address student and parent concerns promptly, offering solutions and support where necessary.
  • Collaborate with different departments, such as Marketing and Placement, to ensure a seamless student experience.
  1. Data and Reporting:
  • Track and report on student enrolment statistics, conversion rates, and success metrics.
  • Provide regular feedback to the management on trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Utilize CRM systems to maintain student records, track communication, and update progress reports.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in student counselling, admissions, or academic advising.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to empathize with students and offer support.
  • Experience with CRM software and data management tools.
  • A passion for student success and education.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to work on-campus and attend student events.
  • Knowledge of the education system, certifications, and career pathways in the industry.
