Job description

Position:  Open-Source Intelligence Analyst
Location: Primarily Remote (~90+ percent remote); Ballston, VA or Arlington, VA preferred
Clearance Required: Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI
Status: Funded

 

Knowesis is currently seeking an experienced intelligence analyst, preferably with experience working on one or more of the nation’s 16 Critical Infrastructure Sectors, to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's (CISA) mission to evaluate, assess, and report potential risks to U.S. national security. Our role specifically is to evaluate potential risks associated with proposed foreign person acquisitions of or investments in U.S. businesses and/or their involvement in applications for FCC licenses.

This position requires a Secret Clearance and U.S. Citizenship (applicants without proof of U.S. Citizenship will not be considered due to the position's security clearance requirement). Knowesis will submit the successful candidate for Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance.

The Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support multiple, concurrent analytical efforts and produce products that contribute to recommendations on cases under review and high visibility projects.
  • Analyze data provided by the parties to a proposed transaction or license application and available through Business Intelligence tools and open-source research to better analyze and communicate potential national security risks, concerns, and outcomes of decisions.
  • Provide timely status updates to leadership and the customer in a clear, concise, and polished manner.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality analytical products and solutions. Create reports, summaries, presentations, and process documents to display results.
  • Help identify and develop new analytical ideas, approaches, and supporting capabilities related to analyzing associated national security risks with proposed transactions or license applications.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, Public Policy, National Security Affairs, related discipline, or associated with previously described skills and qualifications.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience preparing written analysis using open-source information and other data or data tools, in fields related to risk assessment, intelligence, national security, supply chain management, and/or foreign investment.
  • Proven analytical, writing, and reporting skills for a variety of audiences including agency senior leadership.
  • Current Secret clearance is mandatory; eligible for Top Secret preferred (or active in the past two years).
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with both government and contractor staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in at least one of the 16 national critical infrastructure sectors.
  • Working knowledge of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).
  • Experience with DHS or other CFIUS member agencies.
  • Suitability for employment with DHS.
  • Familiarity with foreign investment trends; associated risks to national security and supply chains by adversaries and countries of concern; and related national security policies, Executive Orders, laws, and regulations.
