Job Description

   

We are seeking an experienced Software QA Engineer to enhance the quality and test automation of Harvester, an open-source hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) solution powered by cutting-edge cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, KubeVirt, and Longhorn. Harvester serves as an open-source alternative to vSphere and Nutanix.

We’re looking for a passionate individual who thrives on working with system-level software and open-source projects. In this role, you’ll help elevate technologies within Harvester, Longhorn, and Rancher. Join our team to deliver groundbreaking open-source solutions with enterprise-level quality and contribute to the container revolution!

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement automated test cases for new and existing features, as well as reported bugs.

  • Validate implemented features and resolved bugs while expanding test coverage.
  • Serve as a QA captain on a rotating basis, collaborating with the release captain to ensure release quality.
  • Automate test case execution in an observable, automated manner.
  • Contribute to design reviews.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and validate issues.
  • Facilitate cross-team collaboration to enhance feature quality, increase test coverage, and share QA knowledge.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, JavaSript, TypeScript, Shell Script, or similar scripting languages.

  • Experience with QA testing lifecycles.
  • Knowledge of testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD methodologies.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with engineering teams on issue validation.
  • Experience with Agile development practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to share technical knowledge effectively.
  • Experience working remotely with teams across multiple time zones.
  • Success in addressing technical debt and enhancing test case development productivity.
  • Knowledge of system-level software, virtualization, software-defined storage/networking, and distributed systems.
  • Experience using solutions based on Kubernetes or similar platforms.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in QA automation, testing system software on Linux or distributed systems.
  • Enthusiasm for tackling diverse technological challenges—ready to learn, resolve, and grow.
  • A proactive “can-do” attitude to drive impactful change.
  • Hands-on approach to problem-solving and execution.
  • An automation mindset, committed to streamlining processes for improved productivity.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal or external teams.
  • Energetic and passionate about emerging QA technologies.
