Job description

Description

The Position
Uplight is creating a new category of energy. We make software that manages energy resources in homes and businesses—including things like smart thermostats, electric vehicles, solar panels, storage batteries, heat pumps, and even people’s behavior—to generate, shift, or save energy to balance the grid, making it more efficient and reliable. This creates clean energy capacity that can be used by the power grid instead of burning more fossil fuels. Our solutions accelerate the transition to clean energy and save money for energy customers.
We are seeking a Partnership Manager to join our team and help us achieve our ambitious goals for our business and the planet.
How you will make an impact:
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Partnership Manager with domain expertise in the energy utility ecosystem. You will focus on building and nurturing partnerships related to demand response and load flexibility solutions. In this role, you will be instrumental in identifying, negotiating, and managing strategic alliances with partners to enhance our VPP offerings, expand market reach, and drive revenue growth. This Partnership Manager will play a crucial role in advancing our goals of expanding devices under management, increasing utility coverage, and providing more advanced optimization.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced, results-oriented individual with a proven track record of developing and maintaining partnerships, navigating technical requirements and solutioning, and supporting sales to leverage the partnership to accelerate opportunities and expand into new markets.

What You Will Contribute:

  • Partnership Strategy & Development
    •  Identify, cultivate, and manage strategic partnerships with key stakeholders—including manufacturers, data providers, energy aggregators, and technology providers—within the demand response and load flexibility ecosystem. This involves leading negotiations, finalizing mutually beneficial and legally sound agreements, and ensuring seamless integration of our solutions into existing infrastructures while fostering ongoing collaboration and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Product Integration & Internal collaboration
    •  Collaborate closely with internal teams, including marketing, sales, product development, and customer success, you will align go-to-market strategies with overall business objectives. You will manage partnership discovery with technical, sales, and market leaders, develop market sizing and pricing recommendations, for executive leadership review and buy in.
  • Market & Ecosystem Expertise
    •  Understand trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in load flexibility. Use these insights to identify partnership opportunities and develop strategies to capitalize on market demands.
  • Stakeholder Communication
    •  Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of partners. Analyze data and metrics to assess partnership performance and make data-driven decisions to identify and vet new opportunities with existing partners.
What you bring to Uplight:
  • 5 + years of partnership, sales or consulting experience with a track record of nurturing beneficial partner relationships to achieve revenue goals
  • 3 + years of utility/energy industry experience
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful insights.
  • Results-oriented approach with a focus on driving measurable outcomes from partnerships.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and persuasion skills, with the ability to build strong relationships both with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Bonus Points:
  • Ability to learn the nuances of different segments of the utility market including decision making process, regulatory environment and market influences are important, too.
