Description

Pharmacists Mutual Insurance has an opening for a Human Resources Generalist. This role is responsible for multiple areas within the Human Resources team, generally related to benefits, compensation, performance, employee relations, or recruitment. The Human Resources Generalist makes recommendations for improvements to programs and policies and works to implement them accordingly. They serve as a resource for the employees, managers, executives, and related vendors ensuring human resources efforts align with organizational philosophies and goals.

Human Resources Generalist I

  • Responsible for basic human resources duties.
  • Manages small and medium sized programs and initiatives with direction and assistance, as needed.
  • May train others on human resources programs.

Human Resources Generalist II

  • Responsible for moderately complex human resources duties.
  • Manages small, medium, and large sized programs and initiatives with minimal direction and assistance.
  • Trains and mentors others on human resources programs.

Essential Functions

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:    

  • Assist in the development, implementation and management of HR policies and programs.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of Human Resources activities in collaboration with team members.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Research and analyze HR trends and make recommendations for improvement to HR policies and programs.
  • Manage personnel records, employee data and HR systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of information.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to work with individuals and groups to resolve sensitive issues; listen and understand others and their needs.
  • Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, vocabulary and punctuation.
  • Work independently and use initiative.
  • Prepare professional level reports, correspondence, and other written documents.
  • Handle sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.
  • Apply department policies and procedures in handling routine and unusual occurrences.
  • Analyze complex issues and make critical decisions.
  • Read, interpret and input data efficiently and accurately.
  • Determines when and how to escalate concerns to the appropriate level of management.
  • Communicate effectively with others (oral and written); follow oral and written directions.
  • Contribute effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to provide effective customer service.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Meet definite deadlines and deal with pressure situations.
  • Utilize computer and related software effectively.
Qualifications

Experience and Education Qualifications

Human Resources Generalist I

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience; or
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent and 3 years of related experience; or
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Human Resources Generalist II

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years of related experience; or
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent and 5 years of related experience; or
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of related experience; or
  • Master’s Degree

Work Environment

  • Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting
  • Work may involve travel to attend meetings at other locations
