Description

The Injury Prevention Program is housed within the Division of Health Protection in the Georgia Department of Public Health. Our mission is to prevent injuries by empowering state and local coalitions through the provision of data, training, and leadership, and the leveraging of resources for prevention programs.

The Injury Prevention Program internship position is designed to provide practical work experience and exposure to the field of injury and violence prevention and research.

Job Responsibilities

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Assist in benchmarking "best practices" in injury and violence prevention
  • Assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of injury and violence prevention projects
  • Support in data entry
  • Communicate and present at meetings and other recognized avenues as appropriate
  • Develop educational materials and tool kits based on identified needs
  • Participate in meetings and events as needed
  • Assist in the development of Injury and Violence Prevention Tool Kits (building a list of useful apps, web links, access to forms, and other free resources)
  • Web development (updating and managing the Injury Prevention Program website)
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of educational seminars and workshops on injury and violence prevention
  • Receives additional training, as required, to gain proficiency and experience in Injury and Violence Prevention topic areas
  • Assist with meeting facilitation, partner follow-up, program evaluation and data updates to support the grant activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree candidate in a related field from an accredited university OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, biostatistics, epidemiology, evaluation or related, or a directly related field from an accredited college or university AND one year of experience in a related area
  • Ability to support the data entry and data cleaning process
  • Ability to conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings
  • Ability to present findings to diverse partners and stakeholders
  • Experience with web development preferred but not required
  • Ability to plan and implement educational webinars
  • Ability to work remotely and independently

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
