Job description

This is a remote position.

Are you a licensed attorney ready to take your legal career to the next level—with the flexibility of remote work? Our client, a fast-growing and well-respected law firm, is seeking a Remote Associate Attorney to support their Residential Portfolio Management division, with a focus on evictions, code enforcement, and small claims matters across North and South Carolina.


This is a remote-first position with occasional in-person court appearances in the Charlotte, NC and Columbia, SC areas.



⚖️ What You'll Do

As a core member of the legal team, you’ll take ownership of cases and make a direct impact for clients. Responsibilities include:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and approving eviction-related pleadings

  • Managing eviction, code enforcement, and small claims cases from start to finish—including contested matters

  • Representing clients in mediations, depositions, and hearings (telephonic and in-person)

  • Conducting regular client updates and communications via phone, email, and client systems

  • Collaborating on special legal projects and firm initiative



Requirements
Must-Have Skills & Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Active bar membership in good standing in both North Carolina and South Carolina

  • 3–5 years of legal experience in eviction, landlord-tenant law, or housing-related litigation

  • Strong understanding of eviction-related pleadings and procedures

  • Experience with court appearances, including contested hearings, mediations, and depositions

  • Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills

  • Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload and meet strict deadlines

  • Comfortable working in a remote-first environment with minimal supervision

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational/time-management skills

  • Clear, professional communication with clients (verbal, written, and via client systems)


Nice-to-Have Skills & Experience
  • Experience handling code enforcement and small claims litigation

  • Prior work with client case management platforms (e.g., Clio, MyCase, etc.)

  • Experience in mediation and deposition strategy

  • Familiarity with multi-state legal practice or filings

  • Background in project management or participation in firm-wide special initiatives
