This is a remote position.

Scopic is looking for a weather enthusiast or meteorology student to join our team as a QA Tester for a weather-focused web application. This is not your typical QA role—we’re specifically seeking someone with a strong interest or background and significant knowledge in meteorology who can help ensure quality and accuracy from a domain expert’s perspective.

This is a part-time position and an exciting opportunity to contribute behind the scenes on a dynamic weather visualization platform that delivers real-time insights to users.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform manual testing of an interactive, web-based weather visualization platform
  • Verify that features related to weather data (e.g., radar, map layers, storm patterns) function as intended and display accurately
  • Take part in live testing events during tornado outbreaks
  • Identify, document, and communicate bugs or anomalies clearly
  • Collaborate with the development team to confirm bug fixes and improve usability
  • Suggest improvements based on your understanding of weather data and end-user behavior
Requirements:
  • A current student in meteorology, climatology, environmental sciences, or a weather-related field
  • OR a self-taught weather enthusiast with a deep understanding of radar maps, forecasting models, and storm tracking
  • User of different weather applications and weather data sources
  • Curious, observant, and detail-oriented, with a natural knack for spotting discrepancies
  • Strong communication skills and ability to document bugs clearly in English
  • Comfortable using web tools and navigating across browsers and devices
      Nice to Have:
  • Familiarity with QA principles (e.g., exploratory testing, regression testing)
