We’re looking for an experienced and strategic Editor to lead the launch and editorial growth of Bolavip France. This role is ideal for a newsroom leader with sharp editorial instincts, proven content growth strategies, and the ability to lead and manage a distributed team of freelance contributors.
Key Responsibilities:
Editorial Leadership & Content Strategy
Define and execute the editorial strategy for Bolavip France, in alignment with brand guidelines and traffic objectives.
Own the daily content agenda, from breaking news and match coverage to longform features, LBP articles, SEO content, and evergreen topics.
Monitor content performance and adjust strategy to maximize reach, engagement, and search rankings.
Curate content around the most relevant topics in French and international football, prioritizing speed, accuracy, and fan interest.
Propose interviews with prominent figures to generate original content.
2. Team Management
Lead, coordinate, and manage a team of 5 freelance sportswriters, ensuring clear expectations, workflows, and performance standards.
Assign and edit articles daily, providing timely feedback and ensuring all content meets editorial guidelines and SEO best practices.
Set and maintain weekly schedules, shifts, and rotation plans to ensure 24/7 coverage of key events and breaking news.
Provide onboarding, mentoring, and support to new contributors, promoting a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Help this team to adopt the editorial tools used all along the Bolavip editions (WordPress, Marfeel Compass, Google Trends, etc.)
3. Traffic & Performance Goals
Collaborate with the Audience Development and SEO teams to grow organic traffic, optimize distribution, and monitor KPIs using tools like Marfeel Compass and Search Console, among others.
Define and track traffic and content production goals, ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly targets are met.
Develop strategies for audience retention, including newsletter ideas, push notification strategies, and recurring content formats.
4. Coordination & Communication
Act as the main liaison between the French team and the central editorial, product, and commercial teams.
Ensure editorial alignment across global editions (e.g., for international tournaments or breaking news coverage).
Participate in regular update meetings, performance reviews, and content planning sessions.
5. Qualifications & Requirements
5+ years of experience in digital journalism, with at least 2 years in a leadership/editorial role.
Deep understanding of the French sports media ecosystem, especially football and its audience.
Experience working with freelance writers and remote teams.
Strong SEO knowledge and ability to use analytics to guide editorial decision-making.
Excellent editorial judgment and high standards for quality, accuracy, and relevance.
Fluent in French (native or equivalent); proficiency in English is required.
Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and match days as needed.
