Job description

THE ROLE

Austral’s Tech team is looking for a Tech Operations Manager to take full ownership of our internal IT operations, from managing global infrastructure and devices to enforcing cybersecurity practices and overseeing license usage across departments.

This is a high-impact role at the center of our company's technology ecosystem. You’ll not only ensure operational stability, but also act as a gatekeeper for our SaaS tools, tracking usage, identifying inefficiencies, and regularly reporting insights directly to the CTO.

You'll have support from a junior team member to help execute infrastructure and support tasks and will collaborate with external specialists for strategic software evaluations when needed.

WHY JOIN US

  • Make a direct impact on the operational efficiency of a global, fast-moving company.
  • Collaborate directly with the CTO and shape our internal technology landscape.
  • Be a key voice in decisions on tooling, governance, and digital enablement.
  • Work remotely in a multicultural, collaborative environment.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations & Infrastructure

  • Manage company-wide hardware lifecycle (procurement, maintenance, replacements), including purchases, onboarding and offboarding of devices.
  • Ensure devices and systems are secure, updated, and standardized across regions.
  • Implement and oversee IT support processes, including triage and escalation.

Security & Compliance

  • Apply and enforce cybersecurity and data privacy procedures.
  • Support the CTO in responding to vendor/client security and privacy inquiries.
  • Coordinate and apply regular software updates and patches.

Tool Governance & Usage Gatekeeping

  • Maintain a centralized inventory of all SaaS tools used across the company.
  • Track license usage, user access, and tool adoption across departments.
  • Identify unused or underused tools and raise recommendations for change or consolidation.
  • Identify opportunities to negotiate better terms in active contracts;
  • Produce monthly reports and insights to the CTO on usage trends and optimization opportunities.
  • Maintain standardized evaluation tools (Evaluation Guide and Evaluation Report) to guide and support other departments in proposing or comparing software platforms.
  • Act as a neutral facilitator to ensure tools are benchmarked against business needs, budget, and security criteria — while involving external specialists where needed.

Internal Support & Knowledge Management

  • Coordinate, research and solve internal tech issues and support tickets.
  • Maintain an up-to-date internal knowledge base of tools and troubleshooting guides.

REQUIREMENTS

Core / Must Haves

  • Strong experience with IT support, infrastructure, or operations (3+ years).
  • Proven ability to manage licenses, endpoints, and software environments.
  • High proficiency in Google Workspace.
  • Comfortable with tracking tools and reporting usage patterns.
  • Clear and effective communicator across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Nice to Have

  • Proven ability to manage other resources/team (freelancers, interns, etc)
  • Familiarity with tools like Salesforce, Slack, Travefy, Conga, or similar SaaS platforms.
  • Experience working with cybersecurity standards (e.g. GDPR, SOC 2).
  • Experience with leading software evaluation processes.
  • Background in distributed/global IT environments.

WHAT YOU GET

  • Work with autonomy in a global, mission-driven company.
  • Close mentorship and direct access to the CTO.
  • Opportunity to shape the evolution of IT and platform governance.
  • A clear growth path toward Infrastructure Leadership or Platform Management.
