Position Summary
This position provides integral support to the employment legal team with respect to a variety of employment law matters, including litigation, administrative charges, advisory services, and strategic initiatives. To be successful in this role, you will need to be detail-oriented, have strong organizational skills, and be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
NOTE: This is a full-time in-person role based in Miami, FL. Applicants must be available to work in Miami, FL Monday – Thursday. The company currently permits employees to work from home on Friday.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Review and draft responses to legal pleadings, administrative charges, and other legal correspondence and pleadings.
Gather and analyze documents and information related to employment claims and investigations.
Organize and maintain case files, pleadings, subpoena responses, discovery responses, and task trackers.
Draft and assist in the preparation and coordination of responses to subpoenas, writs of garnishments, discovery requests, legal pleadings, litigation holds, and template updates.
Coordinate with in-house counsel, business personnel, and outside counsel in connection with litigation and other employment law projects, training materials, and policy updates.
Assist with research and tracking local laws and legal updates in various jurisdictions.
Assist with administrative tasks such as calendaring, billing, processing settlement checks, and other related tasks.
Other tasks as needed to support the legal department.
Qualifications, Knowledge, And Skills
Associate's degree
Paralegal certificate
Three (3) years of paralegal experience in a corporate in-house legal department or law firm.
General understanding of labor, employment, and maritime laws impacting operations, including Title VII, FLSA, ADA, FMLA, OSHA, and MLC regulations (preferred).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Flexible and adaptable; able to prioritize, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with diverse teams operating in a fast-paced environment.
