The Vice President of Brokerage Sales is a dynamic growth leader who drives aggressive sales performance, inspires and develops high-performing sales leaders, and brings innovative marketing strategies to life across our national distribution network. This role is accountable for the performance, profitability, and expansion of Mutual of Omaha’s brokerage business in Life, LTC, Critical Illness, Final Expense, and Annuity markets.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:


 

  • Sales Leadership:
    • Owns and drives national brokerage sales results with an unwavering focus on annual growth goals, profitability, and market expansion.
    • Leads, mentors, and holds National Sales Directors accountable for execution, production growth, and territory management.
    • Aligns brokerage sales activity with company strategy through tactical deployment, metrics, and real-time course correction.
  • Mentorship & Talent Development:
    • Acts as a player-coach, actively engaging in field activity with direct reports, modeling best practices, and growing next-generation leaders.
    • Creates a culture of accountability, transparency, and development through coaching, joint field work, and regular performance reviews.
    • Partners with HR and Sales Leadership to identify and develop succession pipelines and build organizational bench strength.
  • Marketing Strategy & Innovation:
    • Champions creative and measurable marketing initiatives that generate sales lift and differentiate Mutual of Omaha in the brokerage marketplace.
    • Collaborates with Marketing, Product, and Distribution teams to craft compelling value propositions, sales tools, campaigns, and launch strategies.
    • Drives activation of field marketing programs and digital outreach that elevate Mutual’s presence with top producers and NMOs.
  • Strategic Execution:
    • Crafts and executes long-term and annual plans aligned to corporate goals and market opportunities.
    • Identifies opportunities for new product rollouts, new distribution partnerships, and whitespace expansion.
    • Regularly evaluates sales processes, tools, and field feedback to optimize performance and eliminate friction points.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Works closely with Product, Underwriting, Compliance, and Operations to ensure alignment, coordination, and execution of field strategy.
    • Partners with Producer Relations and Compliance to ensure policies, practices, and submissions meet regulatory and quality standards.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:


 

  • 7-10 years of progressive sales leadership experience in Life Insurance, Annuities, Critical Illness, Final Expense, and LTC within the brokerage channel, including fully underwritten and simplified markets.
  • Firsthand working knowledge and experience of Traditional Brokerage Distributors and Multi-Level marketers and Inspirational Marketers for the sale of products common in their respective markets.
  • Proven success in leading high-performing sales teams and exceeding aggressive production goals.
  • Deep understanding of simplified issue and fully underwritten products and the independent advisor landscape.
  • Strong mentor with a passion for coaching, people development, and team accountability.
  • Highly strategic and analytical; able to turn data and trends into tactical field actions.
  • Innovative marketer: able to develop and execute campaigns and concepts that generate sales.
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator with strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 50%.
  • Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.

PREFERRED:


 

  • Experience working with large NMOs, BGAs, or IMO partners.
  • Exposure to CRM systems (Salesforce), lead gen platforms, and sales enablement technologies.
  • Track record of creative leadership in high-growth or transformation environments
