Do you have experience working in patient access? Are you comfortable working in a call center environment? UPMC is hiring a full-time Patient Access Data Monitor to work at the Quantum One Building in the South Side. This position would work Friday through Tuesday from 3:00pm until 11:30pm.

Patient Access Data Monitors maintain data accuracy in all patient record related systems for UPMC. They coordinate and support ADT (Admissions, Discharges, and Transfers) resolution of accounts for all phases of the revenue cycle while working under the general supervision of Revenue Cycle Patient Access department leadership. Additionally, they troubleshoot and provide assistance for all levels of responsibility within UPMC as requested.

Responsibilities:
Answer multi-line telephone system and registers Direct Admissions, Transfers and Discharges according to department protocols.
Review reports and takes action accordingly to maintain data integrity.
Support and contribute to UPMC core values and guiding principles, and abide by all UPMC departmental policies, procedures and goals in the process of performing all job responsibilities. Incorporate acts of dignity and respect in daily interactions.
Timely analysis, correction and root cause identification of errors to ensure a clean billing cycle. This includes but not limited to canopy tasks, status changes, site specific circus holds, monitoring reports and HPF work queues.
Review and take action to update the patient account to the appropriate bed status.
Act as a resource for staff to assist in providing financial education to patients and family on insurance matters, outside resources, patient's financial liability and hospital-billing process to ensure that patient's financial commitment to the institution is arranged for the patient prior to arrival for services.
Central Resource for all ADT registration and problem resolution during evenings, weekends and holidays.
Coordinate projects as assigned by senior leadership.
Assist in the registration process during periods of high patient volume and/or staffing shortages.
Confirm insurance benefits with the appropriate carrier via on-line verification systems for third party reimbursement and coordination of benefits.
Keep management informed of work area status, plans, goals, problems and resolutions.
Investigate and take action on accounts as requested to determine potential compliance issues.
Completion of High school education required.
Associate degree in Computer Science; or health care related preferred.
Minimum of 3 years in the Revenue Cycle, Patient Access or computer environment position required OR Equivalent combination of Experience or Education.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.
Must have good assessment and problem-solving skills.
Must possess strong technical and analytical skills.
Must be able to make appropriate decisions based on circumstances as well as established protocols.
