About the AU Accountant Role

You’ll work closely with the firm’s directors and have the opportunity to truly own your space while helping SMEs grow with confidence and clarity.

• Prepare tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and super-funds.
  
• Reconcile GST accounts, ATO information, and BAS statements.
  
• Prepare PAYG summaries, BAS, and IAS.
  
• Conduct research on relevant tax legislation.
  
• Create full tax plans for internal review.
  
• Review superannuation reports and compliance.
  
• Apply Division 7A knowledge and asset depreciation rules.
  
• Communicate client obligations clearly and professionally.
  

• Prepare accurate financial and management reports.
  
• Reconcile bank, loan, and balance sheet items.
  
• Create trial balances and financial statements.
  
• Assist with rolling forecasts and performance analysis.
  
• Provide insights through break-even and variance analysis.
  
• Identify red flags or improvement areas in client financials.
  
• Support the finance function and daily operations for various clients.
  

Requirements

About YOU

• You're detail-obsessed and proud of it. You love clean reconciliations, precise tax lodgements, and being the person clients trust to “just get it done.”
  
• You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves—but you’re also someone who thinks ahead and asks, “How can we do this smarter next time?” You're responsive, collaborative, and not shy about taking initiative
  
• You're comfortable working remotely but don’t mind a casual check-in with your team, a bit of Slack banter, or helping a colleague troubleshoot a tricky Division 7A scenario.
  

• You’ve spent at least 5 years in public practice or an accounting firm, preferably with exposure to Australian tax. You’ve handled multiple client accounts, worked under pressure during lodgement seasons, and still delivered on time.
  
• You know your way around:
  
• Xero (especially Xero Workpapers)
  
• Office 365 Suite
  
• Division 7A compliance
  
• Australian Tax Law & GST
  
• Confidentiality & professionalism like a true pro
