Role Overview: 

The Regulatory Compliance Specialist leads compliance initiatives across global customer programs, focusing on risk mitigation, supplier engagement, and regulatory data integration. This role requires expertise in compliance platforms (e.g., BOMcheck, IMDS), due diligence coordination, and the ability to manage complex regulatory deliverables. The analyst serves as a key liaison with external partners, ensuring timely and accurate compliance declarations across multiple regulatory frameworks.

Quick Summary: 

The Regulatory Compliance Specialist will be responsible for collecting, reviewing, and maintaining supplier declarations for various regulations such as EU and China RoHS, EU REACH, California Proposition 65, TSCA, and the Dodd-Frank Act. This role involves analyzing technical statements and chemical reporting, documenting due diligence for customer-specific programs, and coordinating risk mitigation strategies with suppliers and internal stakeholders. The specialist will lead the preparation, review, and submission of compliance declarations across multiple platforms, support supplier outreach campaigns, and act as a liaison between internal teams and external partners. Additionally, the role includes maintaining and enhancing compliance data across platforms, developing Power BI dashboards, and providing technical guidance and mentorship to other analysts.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, familiarity with BOMcheck, IMDS, and regulatory frameworks, advanced Excel and data management skills, proficiency with Power Platform, and experience with SQL and advanced Excel functions.

Key Performance Objectives:

Short-Term (0 to 3 months):

  • Understand Kimball Electronics’ philosophies and product regulatory and compliance policies and processes
  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of existing and ongoing US and global product regulatory compliance laws
  • Familiarize with internal SAP and SharePoint systems related to product regulatory compliance.
  • Establish relationships and communicate with KE staff, customers, and vendors to support product compliance efforts
  • Engage in meetings and discussions, providing support to the Product Compliance Manager and cross-functional groups within Business Development, Engineering, Procurement, and Supply Chain as needed
  • Collaborate on projects related to product compliance
  • Collect, audit, and maintain documentation supporting various product compliance requirements

Medium-Term (4 to 12 months):

  • Continue expanding knowledge of US and global product compliance laws and acts
  • Develop and conduct training sessions for KEI employees on product compliance
  • Identify and implement improvements to the product compliance processes
  • Lead projects related to product compliance
  • Review and update product compliance documentation as needed
  • Coordinate meetings and discussions with internal and external parties as required
  • Assist in resolving any roadblocks and issues that arise

Long-Term (12+ months):

  • Maintain ongoing knowledge of US and global product compliance laws and acts
  • Enhance and refine training programs for KEI employees on product compliance
  • Drive continuous improvements throughout the product compliance processes
  • Lead and manage complex projects related to product compliance
  • Ensure product compliance documentation is consistently reviewed and updated
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactively address and resolve any roadblocks and issues that arise
