Job Summary

The position of chronologist consists of examining and analyzing medical and billing records to produce a chronology that serves as a tool to assist medical experts and practitioners in reviewing medical legal matters dealing with personal injury and malpractice cases. 

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Review, analyze and extract important medical data from all records received to create an organized chronology report about the medical care provided to an injured claimant before and after the injury date 
  • Examine medical billing records and summarize costs for review by the medical expert 
  • Examine medical records to ensure recording of transaction and continuity of health care, noting omissions and/or gaps in treatment 
  • Prepare detailed summaries of all records reviewed in the proprietary template 
  • Examine whether the chronology objectives are clearly achieved and reflect all policies and procedures established by management 
  • Examine whether the chronology addressed the scope provided by attorney/clients 
  • Comply with established deadlines and time-frames to complete records review 
  • Review additional medical records, as provided, to supplement the original

  • Strong organizational skills to benefit analysis and meet deadlines 
  • Computer savvy with technology knowledge and ability – MS Office with high proficiency in the use of Word and proprietary software 
  • Awareness and compliance of security protocols regarding private health information 

Education and Technical Requirements

  • Trained in one of the following fields: registered nurse, legal nurse consultant, health information specialist/technologist, medical transcriptionist or coder 
  • An associate or bachelor's degree preferred 
  • Willingness and ability to obtain a HIPAA certification

Location

  • This position is 100% remote and supports east to west coast time zones
