We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director, Software Product Management to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of our software products. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customer support teams to build innovative products that solve customer problems and drive business growth. You will be a key decision-maker for the product roadmap and will lead a team of product managers to deliver high-quality software that aligns with our company’s goals and objectives
Responsibilities:
1. Product Strategy & Vision
- Lead the product strategy, vision, and roadmap for the company’s software products.
- Understand market trends, emerging technologies, customer pain points, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions.
- Define and communicate a clear product vision to ensure alignment with the overall business objectives.
- Set ambitious yet achievable product goals, aligned with both short-term business needs and long-term strategic growth.
2. Cross-functional Leadership
- Collaborate with engineering, customer support, UX/UI, marketing, and sales teams to deliver products that meet customer expectations and business requirements.
- Lead and mentor a team of product managers, ensuring they have the tools, knowledge, and guidance to succeed.
- Champion the voice of the customer within the company and advocate for the end-user experience.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
3. Product Development & Execution
- Oversee the product lifecycle from ideation through development, launch, and iteration.
- Prioritize product features and enhancements based on customer feedback, business value, and technical feasibility.
- Ensure timely and quality delivery of product releases by managing and mitigating risks.
- Create and maintain detailed product documentation, including requirements, user stories, and product specifications.
- Identify and mitigate product risks if any including market, regulatory and technical risks.
4. Market Analysis & Customer Insights
- Conduct regular market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and threats.
- Use customer feedback, surveys, analytics, and user testing to refine product features and validate product assumptions.
- Track product performance metrics and key success indicators to ensure the product meets user needs and business outcomes.
5. Product Lifecycle Management
- Manage the product lifecycle from concept to end-of-life, ensuring continuous improvement and iteration.
- Manage product budget including resource planning and maximizing return on investment
- Implement product governance processes to ensure consistent quality and compliance with company standards.
- Oversee product launches, including go-to-market strategies, marketing collateral, and sales enablement.
6. Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and grow a high-performing team of product managers, providing mentorship, feedback, and career development.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the product team.
- Manage and develop team resources, allocate responsibilities, and ensure effective communication.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (must be able to be ascertained from the resume):
Education and Experience: (NOTE NECESSARY OR DESIRED)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- years of experience in product management, with at least [Y] years in a leadership or senior management role, particularly in software product management.
- Proven track record of delivering software products from concept to successful launch.
- Strong understanding of software development processes, agile methodologies, and project management.
- Experience managing and mentoring product management teams.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
- Ability to think strategically and translate business goals into actionable product plans.
Other Qualifications Desired:
- Experience in [specific industry or software type, e.g., SaaS, cloud, enterprise software].
- Knowledge of product management tools (e.g., Jira, Aha!, Trello).
- Experience with user-centered design principles and agile development methodologies.
