Job Description

Eramosa Engineering, A CIMA+ Owned Company, is a progressive and growing company specializing in the delivery of critical infrastructure in our communities.  Our team has a focus in municipal water / wastewater, electrical utilities, and renewable energy sectors as well as strategic pursuits in transit, transportation and mining. With over 25 years of experience spanning across all of our locations, we provide Electrical Engineering, System Integration, IT/OT, IoT services, and consulting to our client base across North America.

Job Overview:

We are currently looking for an I&C designer either just starting their career or one with at least 3-4 years of experience on our water/wastewater team. In this role you will be able to leverage your knowledge of industrial control system design, instrumentation selection, industrial control networks, and design principles to solve design challenges for our clients.  You will support projects in design and construction throughout the total project lifecycle.  If a fast paced career where you get to make a difference supporting critical infrastructure projects in the communities in which you live excites you, we have the opportunity for you.

This role will be based out of our office in Guelph where we offer a hybrid flexible work from home arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design control system schematics such as installation details, loop diagrams, connection and interconnection wiring diagrams, panel layouts, etc.
  • Develop Process Control Narratives and I/O Lists.
  • Vendor drawing review for conformance to specifications and to meet the needs of the clients.
  • Adherence to client standards, company standards, combined with sound design practices that are required on designs.
  • Projects will range from small I&C projects up to large projects working with various engineering disciplines.  Contribute to design projects and collaborate closely with a multi-disciplinary team for a successful design and client satisfaction.
  • Responsibilities will include technical report writing and cost estimating including at the conceptual level to help our clients plan future upgrades.
  • Supporting construction projects by reviewing and commenting upon contractor submittals, onsite inspections, and witness testing.

Qualifications
  • A 3 year college level technologist program in electrical engineering technology is required as a minimum.  A 4 year university level degree in a related field of study such as Engineering is preferred.
  • Eligible to work towards full OACETT membership or license to practice Engineering in Ontario (P.Eng. designation or equivalent) is preferred.  Candidates for the intermediate role with an Ontario Engineering license are preferred.
  • Strong command of English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to complete tasks efficiently and independently while contributing effectively to a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Basic knowledge of process connections, measurement concepts and how the process affects instrument selection.
  • Understanding and impacts of corrosive and explosive environments including outdoor installations to select the proper equipment and specify the required installation needs. 
  • Instrumentation application, selection, specification, and installation detail design.
  • Smart instrumentation design and selection for networked instruments and the associated network such as Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, ProfiNet, HART is considered an asset.
  • Network design including cable routing and network component selection is considered an asset.
  • Exposure to the design of automation systems such as PLCs/DCS/RPUs/PACs and SCADA systems is considered an asset.  Experience programming automation systems is also considered an asset. 
  • Previous experience working at a consulting engineering firm is also considered an asset.
