As a Senior Business Intelligence and Visualization Developer (PowerBI) you will play a key role in shaping how we visualize and utilize our vast data resources. This role focuses on developing scalable, interactive dashboards and reports that transform complex data into accessible, actionable insights. Collaborating with business stakeholders, IT teams, and data engineers, you will help drive a data-driven culture while ensuring reporting solutions align with strategic objectives. At Hillenbrand, our culture of continuous improvement and innovation empowers associates to create meaningful impact, and as part of our team, you will contribute to Shaping What Matters For Tomorrow™ through the power of data.

  • Working Hours: 6:30am to 3:30pm EST

  • Location: This position is remote-eligible, aligned with Hillenbrand's remote work policies. However, due to periodic onsite meetings, collaboration, and other business needs, we will only consider candidates who reside within a commutable distance of our Batesville, IN (Greater Cincinnati Region) Headquarters or Kansas City, MO facility.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of impactful analytics that tell compelling data stories and inspire action. Create highly interactive, user-friendly dashboards and reports aligned with business needs.

  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into innovative visual solutions that provide clarity and drive strategic decisions.

  • Support data analytics initiatives by applying best practices, methodologies, and standards to ensure high-quality, consistent reporting.

  • Collaborate with data engineers to refine data schemas and incorporate new reporting requirements seamlessly.

  • Build, optimize, and troubleshoot advanced Power BI reports, dashboards, KPI scorecards, and visualizations using Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.

  • Demonstrate expertise in DAX, SQL, and Power BI tools such as Power BI Report Builder, Tabular Editor, and ALM Toolkit to develop sophisticated and efficient data models.

  • Guide internal teams and business users on visualization best practices, ensuring effective communication and user adoption.

  • Participate in design reviews, deliver targeted training sessions, and oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to guarantee solutions meet business expectations.

  • Stay at the forefront of Power BI and visualization trends to continuously enhance our analytics capabilities.

Team:

  • As part of Hillenbrand’s Performance Operating Metrics (POM) team, you will work alongside global experts to develop innovative dashboards that translate complex data into tangible business outcomes. Your work will shape how Hillenbrand leverages data for smarter, faster, and more impactful decisions!

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; alternatively, 8+ years of directly relevant experience may be considered.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a BI & Visualization Developer, with demonstrated success in delivering comprehensive analytics solutions.

  • At least 3 years of recent hands-on experience developing custom Power BI solutions, including Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power BI Report Builder, Tabular Editor, ALM Toolkit, and DAX Studio. Proven expertise in writing complex DAX and SQL queries, along with role-level security implementation.

  • A compelling portfolio showcasing dashboards and reports you’ve created—if unavailable, we can provide mock data for your sample development.

  • Strong understanding of data modeling (normalized, star, snowflake schemas), query optimization, and performance tuning.

  • Familiarity with Power BI Embedded, REST API endpoints, and Power BI Premium capabilities.

  • Preferred experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), Azure Data Factory, Azure Analysis Services, Synapse, Databricks, and Azure Data Lake Storage.
