A Day in the Life
At Genomics, we tackle some of the most significant scientific challenges and opportunities, aiming to harness the full potential of genetic data to improve human health. This position is part of the Life Sciences team, a dynamic group working across the therapeutic development spectrum.
As a leader in this role, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the team's strategic scientific vision, while overseeing their performance and development. You'll guide the team toward groundbreaking scientific achievements and innovative products, all while fostering a positive and excellence-driven culture.
This position combines scientific leadership, team management, and hands-on involvement in key scientific projects. To thrive, you’ll need a mix of visionary scientific thinking and practical, results-driven execution. A strong sense of ownership over team goals and the ability to inspire and motivate will be essential to delivering impactful results.
The Role
Prioritise key questions for your team and develop research plans to meet customer and collaborator needs.
Oversee daily operations, leading meetings, providing scientific guidance, and resolving technical challenges to ensure progress.
Prepare and communicate key scientific deliverables to internal and external stakeholders.
Manage team members, including performance reviews, hiring, and providing growth opportunities.
Collaborate across teams (e.g., engineering, software) to achieve shared objectives.
Who You Are
PhD in statistical genetics or functional genomics, with relevant life sciences experience (e.g., target discovery).
Proven ability to independently develop, execute, and prioritize research plans for medium to large projects.
Strong communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels through written reports and presentations.
Leadership experience, managing teams to achieve successful outcomes with an empowering management style.
Skilled in coordinating teams and managing projects to ensure timely delivery of objectives.
Expertise in genetic association analyses (e.g., GWAS, SKAT-O, pLoF burden, PRS).
Proficiency in advanced statistical genetics techniques (e.g., colocalization, fine-mapping, Mendelian Randomization, pathway analysis).
Competent in statistical programming (e.g., R, Python) for scientific prototyping.
