Description


The WordPress & Front-End Developer supports Christianity Today’s (CT) digital mission by contributing to the development and maintenance of CT’s websites. Working as part of the Product and Technology team, this role focuses on WordPress coding, plugin integration, and front-end implementation to create excellent functionality and user experience of CT’s web platforms.


Functions and Responsibilities


Development & Customization

  • Write clean, maintainable HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP code for WordPress themes and plugins.
  • Assist in customizing and developing WordPress themes and templates using the Gutenberg editor.
  • Support the integration and maintenance of third-party WordPress plugins in cooperation with WordPress vendors.
  • Perform additional web development-related duties as assigned.

Testing, Maintenance & Documentation

  • Perform cross-browser and mobile compatibility testing.
  • Help maintain technical documentation for WordPress customizations and updates.
  • Support the use of Piano.io with updates and management. 
  • Stay informed on updates and trends in WordPress development and best practices.

Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the Product and Technology team to implement enhancements to user-facing features.
  • Support the Product and Technology team to implement agile processes and best practices.
  • Perform additional job-related duties.

Support & Version Control

  • Respond to and manage internal support requests related to WordPress functionality.
  • Use Git for version control and collaborate with other developers on code changes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or equivalent experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in WordPress development or related front-end work.
  • Proficiency with WordPress, Gutenberg block editor, HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript and PHP.
  • Familiarity with Git version control systems.
  • Basic understanding of website performance, accessibility, and UX principles.
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to a collaborative development team.

Salary Description
Annual Salary Range: $72,000 - $77,000
