The Instructional Designer position is responsible for helping users of Neon One’s SaaS products acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to successfully use our software.
The Exciting Part:
Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer
Work with subject matter experts to identify training needs of target audiences (clients and staff)
State instructional end goals and create content that achieves them
Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product, then work with instructional designers and educational technologists to bring your ideas to life
Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
Design exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
Create multimedia content (audio, video, simulations, role plays, gamification, etc.) for use in courses
Decide on the criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments, including metrics and post-training surveys
Create and/or update knowledge base articles as needed
Assist with reformatting and tagging of knowledge base articles
Maintain project documentation and course folder
The Expected Part
Works closely with our Support and Professional Services teams.
Support the determination and prioritization of training materials
Help to support the reduction of support tickets and support ticket processing times
Help to improve client onboarding satisfaction
Optimize learning resources for client success
Great to Haves:
Working knowledge to Neon One products strongly preferred
At least five years of experience in instructional design and at least two years of experience in use of instructional technology
Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or adult education strongly preferred
Extensive knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
At least five years of experience in lesson and curriculum planning
Advanced user of course development software (Articulate Storyline 360 preferred) and at least one learning management system; knowledge of Skilljar a plus
Visual design skills and ability to storyboard
Basic HTML and CSS programming knowledge a plus
Strong writing skills, with the ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts, and knowledge base articles
