JOB MISSION:  

 

The mission of Retail Analyst at New Balance is to assist with achieving retail excellence with advanced data analytics, strategic insights, and cross-functional collaboration for our EMEA region. This role plays an important part in enhancing financial performance, minimising losses, and improving operational efficiency at a regional and multi-market level. The Retail Analyst will support the development of innovative analytics frameworks, optimise retail strategies, and provide high-level recommendations for leadership to support sustainable growth and profitability. 

 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

 

  • Strategic Data Analytics & Insights: Support with the development of advanced analytics models to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across multiple markets. 

  • Automation & Real-Time Monitoring: Support the implementation of automated systems for detecting anomalies in sales, inventory, and transactions, ensuring real-time response mechanisms. 

  • Loss Prevention & Risk Management: Design and implement high-impact loss prevention strategies, using predictive analytics to mitigate financial risks and operational inefficiencies. 

  • Retail Performance Optimisation: Conduct in-depth performance analysis across store networks, identifying areas for revenue growth, cost optimisation, and enhanced operational effectiveness. 

  • Business Intelligence & Reporting: Develop and manage executive dashboards, ensuring the accurate reporting of key retail metrics and performance indicators to inform strategic decision-making. 

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with support functions like finance, sales, marketing, and retail operations, ensuring alignment of data-driven insights with overall business strategy. 

  • New Store Expansion & Market Entry Support: Provide analytical data to support new store openings, market expansion strategies, and post-launch performance evaluations. 

  • Customer & Retail Experience Enhancement: Provide different teams with data-driven insights to optimise customer experience, drive digital transformation, and enhance store operations through innovative solutions. 

  • Process Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency, standardisation, and the effectiveness of analytics capabilities. 

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Present data-driven recommendations to senior leadership, influencing key retail decisions and business strategies. 

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS: 

 

Technical & Analytical Expertise 

 

  • Experience is analysing large, complex datasets to generate actionable insights that drive retail performance. 

  • Knowledge of and working experience with PowerBI, and Excel for data visualisation, reporting, and automation. 

  • Background in forecasting, trend analysis, and scenario planning to anticipate business risks and opportunities. 

  • Understanding of retail operations, inventory management, sales performance metrics, and transactional data analysis. 

 

Strategic & Leadership Capabilities 

  • Experience in providing high-level analytical support for executive decision-making and retail strategy development. 

  • Ability to collaborate with key senior partners across multiple departments, driving alignment on business initiatives. 

  • Experience with streamlining operations through automation, improving data integrity, and enhancing reporting accuracy. 

 

Experience & Qualifications 

  • Relevant number of years of experience as a Retail Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role in a fast-paced retail environment. 

  • Proven success in utilising data analytics to drive operational improvements, revenue growth, and cost efficiency. 

  • Experience in multi-market retail operations, with a track record of optimising performance across different regions will be advantageous. 

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights in a clear and compelling manner to senior executives. 

  • Innovative & Solution-Oriented approach, with the ability to proactively identify and implement process improvements. 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Finance, or a related field.
