Job description

Systems Administrator – Lead 


Overview

This is a strategic position for our team surrounding DLA projects and is contingent upon award.  

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the stable operation of in-house computer systems and network connections, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Organize and direct the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of information management systems.
  • Analyze and resolve end-user software and connectivity issues.
  • Conduct system capacity and performance analysis and recommend upgrades or configuration changes.
  • Develop and implement system administrator procedures and automation tools to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Conduct system administrator training, skill assessments, and provide end-user training as needed.
  • Provide both local and remote support for maintenance, upgrades, and new server/application installations across multiple locations.
  • Direct and mentor system administration staff, overseeing daily system operations, resource optimization, and user support.
  • Provide technology recommendations aligned with organizational goals and evolving business needs.
  • Apply advanced knowledge in application networking, including load balancing and fault tolerance.
  • Perform vulnerability management and security patching to maintain system integrity.
  • All other duties assigned. 
Qualifications
Demonstrated Knowledge and experience in: 
  • Knowledge and experience in managing IT services, strategies, and performance improvement initiatives. 
  • Technical expertise in IT benchmarking practices and best practice analysis
  • IT project management experience using various Microsoft tools. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and SharePoint
  • Must demonstrate a respectful demeanor.   
  • Experience with presenting material to senior-level officials
Preferred Qualifications
  • DoD contract experience. 
  • Military trained. 
  • Have experience in managing design and operational technical teams that support enterprise Oracle Fusion Middleware platform with over 300,000 users in production environments.  

Clearance:

 Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or higher. 

Education & Experience:

 BS/BA or higher degree in Engineering, Finance or Business.  

  • Minimum 10 years of specialized experience in Information Processing, including:
    1. Progressive roles with a focus on complex hardware/software environments
    2. At least 4 years of direct hands-on experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting various software systems
  • In lieu of a degree, 4 or more years of relevant experience may suffice. 

Location:

  • Remote but must be able to meet on Ft. Belvoir as needed. 
  • Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Schedule flexing is available with the PM’s approval.  

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work.  Ability to sit for extended periods (e.g., at a desk or computer)
  •  Manual dexterity; typing, using a mouse, handling documents or digital tools. 
  • Close vision; working on screens, reading documents, charts, schedules. 
  • Standard hearing. 
  • Clear Communications; presenting, leading meetings, coordinating with stakeholders. 
  • Light lifting: occasionally lifting items under 10-15 bld. (e.g., laptop, notebooks.)  

Travel:

  •  Periodic travel to the customer site at Ft. Belvoir, VA.
