FIELD SERVICE TECHNI

We are seeking a full time Field Service Technician based in the Southern/Eastern region of the United States and also can travel internationally to Mexico/Canada/Caribbean Isles who lives in close proximity of a major airport. We are seeking a technical professional who has a balanced mechanical and electrical aptitude with 5-10 years of previous mechanical/vacuum chamber and electrical experience, preferably with ophthalmic equipment. For this position, multilingual ability is required. (Spanish or French).

Responsibilities: 

Working from your home, the Field Service Technician provides prompt and accurate technical support. The daily work environment will be in optical labs, working directly with customers throughout major US cities. The field technician will maintain a normal travel schedule which involves approximately 80% travel to customers and 20% office and other activities. , a good knowledge of computers, and those that take “ownership” of customer issues. Applicants that have a comprehensive understanding of the optical industry, specifically coating and polishing machines, will have strong consideration. Takes responsibility for the installation, maintenance and repairs on all Satisloh surfacing equipment by performing the following duties. Previous work as an electro-mechanical technician in the optical industry is a huge plus.

• Installs, repairs and performs maintenance on all optical/coating machinery.
• Possesses ability to read and interpret hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic schematics.
• Provides technical support to customers via travel and telephone support.
• Assists customer service and shipping/receiving with part identification.
• Fosters and maintains a working environment within the department that encourages positive, open and professional communication and a strong focus on the customer.
• Performs customer service and customer communication.
• Provides prompt and accurate technical support via customer service phone calls.
• Addresses customer issues in a timely manner.
• Maintains ongoing contact with Field Service Manager to discuss scheduling.
• Prepares expense reports.
• Prepares Service Work Orders for all customer visits.
• Updates and maintains customer database.
• Attends trade shows and exhibitions.
• Provides manuals and other documentation to customers upon request.
• Attends product/operations training in Italy, Germany or Switzerland upon request.
• Understands, evaluates and meets the customer’s needs and expectations in a proactive manner.
• Facilitates the department’s implementing change and continuous improvement of processes.
• Works with all departments to assure maximum coordination of efforts in the resolution of common problems and the attainment of common objectives.
• Maintains files and prepares correspondence, memos and reports.
• Works closely with project managers to improve process improvements.

Education:

High School Diploma required, preferred Technical Degree (two or four year college) or Armed Forces Electronics Training, a plus

Qualifications:

• •Excel at communication (verbal and written), have sound judgment and decision making skills and possess the ability to think under pressure, take action and facilitate customer solutions.
•  5+ years of field service experience in industries having electro-mechanical skills
• Valid Driver's License
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Mail, and Internet)
