The University of the Cumberlands is seeking qualified candidates to teach undergraduate coursework in Introduction to Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and Introduction to Microbiology. Under the direction of the Chair of the Biology Department, this adjunct faculty position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students through lectures and laboratory sessions. This course is a foundational requirement for students in various health science programs and supports the University’s mission of offering academically robust programs grounded in Christian values to learners of all backgrounds.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Teach online sections of:
    Introduction to Human Anatomy
    Introduction to Human Physiology
    Introduction to Microbiology
  • Utilize departmental syllabus templates and course objectives to align with University curriculum standards.
  • Develop instructional materials and assessments that reflect current anatomical knowledge and effective pedagogy.
  • Provide regular, timely feedback on student performance. Maintain consistent communication with students, including through virtual office hours and email
  • Use the University's learning management system (iLearn/Blackboard) and Workday to record grades and student engagement.
  • Respond professionally to student evaluations and integrate feedback as appropriate.
  • Comply with university policies, procedures, and academic integrity standards.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or higher in Biology, Human Anatomy, Physiology, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching anatomy or closely related subjects, preferably at the collegiate level.
  • Commitment to student-centered instruction and inclusive pedagogy.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Terminal degree (Ph.D., M.D., D.C., D.P.T., or equivalent) in a related discipline.
  • Experience teaching both lecture and lab components.
  • Familiarity with Blackboard (iLearn) and Workday for course and student management.
  • Experience in curriculum design, particularly for hybrid or online formats.
  • Ongoing commitment to professional development in anatomy, health sciences, or pedagogy.
Compensation:

Commensurate with expertise and experience.
