Description
Position at Thrive Pet Healthcare

Vice President, Strategy and Operations – Value Creation
Location: Remote, with regular travel to Austin, TX and hospitals as needed
Reports to: Vice President, Strategy and Transformation
Make a Big Impact on Veterinary Healthcare
At Thrive Pet Healthcare, we’re on a mission to transform the way veterinary care is delivered — and we’re looking for a seasoned and results-driven leader to help shape that future.
As Vice President of Strategy and Operations – Value Creation, you will lead enterprise-level transformation initiatives that drive operational excellence, growth, and profitability across our national network of veterinary hospitals. This is a hands-on leadership role, where you’ll identify and address underperformance, create high-impact solutions, and ensure the success of both hospital-level and enterprise-wide strategic priorities.
This role is ideal for someone with strong consulting or strategic operations experience, who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and is passionate about building something better for patients, clients, and teams.
What You’ll Do
Hospital Optimization & Turnaround
  • Conduct quarterly assessments to identify hospitals with improvement opportunities
  • Develop and implement tailored, data-driven turnaround plans with clear milestones
  • Partner with Operations, Finance, People Operations, and Marketing to ensure success
  • Track project progress using our Project Management Office (PMO) framework
Enterprise Strategic Projects & Executive Support
  • Lead or support company-wide projects on behalf of executive leadership (CEO/COO/VP)
  • Drive strategic initiatives, pilot programs, and cross-functional efforts from planning through execution
  • Analyze internal and external data to support decision-making at the executive level
  • Act as a thought partner to leadership on opportunities, challenges, and market dynamics
Analytical Leadership & Value Creation
  • Use financial modeling, benchmarking, and analytics to identify growth and efficiency opportunities
  • Develop tools, KPIs, and dashboards to monitor performance and drive accountability
  • Conduct market and competitor research to guide investment and strategic planning
  • Design scalable templates, frameworks, and best practices across hospitals
  • Track and report operational and financial outcomes across the organization
What We’re Looking For
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years in healthcare, consulting, veterinary, or multi-site operations
    • Background in performance improvement, financial analysis, and operational transformation
    • Experience with PMO leadership and change management in matrixed environments
    • Previous consulting or private equity value creation experience is highly desirable
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and project management abilities
    • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
    • Proficiency in EBITDA-focused analysis, financial modeling, and performance tools
    • Ability to operate at both strategic and executional levels
Why Thrive Pet Healthcare
We’re building more than a veterinary network — we’re building a supportive, data-driven community focused on meaningful care and operational excellence. As part of our Strategy and Transformation team, you’ll have the autonomy to lead change, the support of engaged executive leaders, and the opportunity to make a measurable impact on a national scale.
If you’re passionate about driving transformation, optimizing performance, and creating long-term value, we want to hear from you.
