Patron Career Staffing is looking for Sheet Metal TIG Welder/Fitter Leadhand for our client in Pickering, ON.

As the Lead Hand - Sheet Metal Welder, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the sheet metal welding team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and timely completion of welding projects, meeting quality standards, and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise in sheet metal welding, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision and Leadership:

    • Lead and manage the sheet metal welding team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure a high level of performance.
    • Schedule and assign tasks to team members, balancing workloads and optimizing productivity.
  2. Technical Expertise:

    • Demonstrate proficiency in sheet metal welding techniques and processes.
    • Provide hands-on support and assistance to the team in executing welding tasks with precision and adherence to quality standards.
  3. Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure that all welding work meets or exceeds industry and company standards for quality.
    • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks on completed projects to identify and address any defects or deviations from specifications.
  4. Safety Compliance:

    • Enforce and promote a culture of safety within the welding team.
    • Conduct regular safety meetings, ensuring that all team members are trained and equipped to work safely.
  5. Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering and production, to ensure seamless communication and coordination of welding activities within the overall project timeline.
  6. Training and Development:

    • Identify training needs within the team and coordinate relevant training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the welding team.
  7. Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including project timelines, material usage, and quality control measures.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in sheet metal welding, with a minimum of [X years] of hands-on welding experience.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing or welding environment.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes, techniques, and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or vocational training in welding is a plus.
