Summary At FoodChain ID we are committed to consistently delivering the highest levels of operation and service excellence in our industry. Our certification services department is currently seeking a Technical Manager. This position reports to and supports the Operations Director, Certification in maintaining the accreditation of the certification and competent performance of the auditors and technical team. This position requires the ability to act quickly, remain flexible and manage multiple priorities. This position involves remote working with occasional travel.
Location:As the position is remote, the successful candidate will be required to maintain a home office with a reliable internet connection.
Role and Responsibilities Technical and Certification
Provide technical support as required to the business, including sales, marketing, leadership, customers, and administrative staff.
Provide leadership and management to the technical team and ensure adherence to the FoodChain ID quality management system.
Manage accreditation body and certification program owner (CPO) audits.
Maintenance of CB internal and external KPIs to ensure performance requirements as defined.
Drive improvement in auditor performance through onboarding, training, witnessing and management of auditor credentials.
Manage the technical review and certification decision team.
Maintain the Management Review, Governance Committee, and Internal Audit programs.
Represent FoodChain ID Certification at Standard Holders meetings and events.
Lead FoodChain ID’s Quality Management Team (QMT).
Technical Knowledge and Skills
Extensive knowledge of BRCGS, SQF, FSSC 22000, GMP, and other certification programs and customer audit programs such as Costco, McDonald’s, McCormick, etc.
Working knowledge of relevant regulatory standards from agencies such as FDA, USDA, CFIA, etc.
Provide technical arbitration in appeals, disputes, complaints, recalls, exemption requests, critical non-conformance consultation as required
Working knowledge of auditing software system, checklists, and corrective action management systems
Regulatory and Certification Knowledge
GFSI recognized food safety and quality audit schemes
Working knowledge of ISO 17065 and ISO 17021
Key regulations that impact food certification, audits, and clients
Comprehensive and extensive knowledge in the following areas
Operation of certification schemes
Quality systems
Relevant international standards
Third-party audit programs
Competencies
Leadership and supervisory skills

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Degree in food science, biology, chemistry, or relevant field
5+ years of Food Safety or Quality assurance experience in the food industry
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Ideal candidates will have the following:
Experience in food safety systems certification
HACCP training
PCQI for human food
Lead or Internal Auditor training
GFSI auditor credential(s)
Corrective and Preventive Action training
