About The Position

The Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to lead the Research and Data Analytics Unit. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to drive impactful change and innovation within the largest unified trial court in the United States.

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Director of Research and Data Analytics is a single-position management classification that oversees the research and data team, and directs centralized research and data analytics functions for the Court. This includes the development of strategic Court-wide research projects, business analytics, data gathering, analysis, and high-volume reporting which supports a wide variety of Court initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage the Research and Data Analytics Unit.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive data management strategies.
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of court data.
  • Collaborate with departments to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations.

This is an at-will managerial position. The Trial Court Employment Protection and Governance Act (SB 2140) authorizes the Court to exclude managerial employees from the employment protection provisions of the Act, subject to meet and confer.

TELEWORK OPPORTUNITIES

This position is eligible for partial telework following an initial training period and contingent upon the needs of the Court.

Selection Requirements

To qualify, you must meet one of the following options at the time of application:

OPTION I: Bachelor's degree* from an accredited college or university -AND- eight (8) years of experience managing operations in a Court or public entity, five (5) years of which must have been in a management** capacity overseeing distinct, but related, administrative or operational units.

OPTION II: Twelve (12) years of experience managing operations in a Court or public entity, five (5) years of which must have been in a management** capacity overseeing distinct, but related, administrative or operational units.

  • Management capacity is defined as having the responsibility for planning, organizing, implementing, and administering the work of a functional program or section through subordinate supervisory staff.
