2410DS - Database Administrator III

Database Subject Matter Expert 

Overview

This is a strategic position for our team surrounding DLA projects and is contingent upon award. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Performance Tuning
    • Analyze slow-running queries and improve performance
    •  Identify bottlenecks and suggest hardware or indexing solutions
  • Security & Compliance
    • Ensure data is stored and accessed securely
    • Implement role-based access, encryption, auditing, and compliance (e.g., HIPAA, FISMA, GDPR)
  • Data Governance 
    • Define data standards, data quality rules, naming conventions
    •  Work with stakeholders to manage master data and metadata
  • Support & Troubleshooting 
    • Serve as the escalation point for critical database issues 
    • Provide root cause analysis for data-related incidents
  • Technical Expertise
    • Design and optimize database schemas, queries, indexes
    • Guide database architecture decisions (e.g., relational vs. NoSQL)
  • Provide in-depth knowledge of database platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Briefing senior management.
  • All other duties assigned.
Qualifications
  • Experienced in supporting DoD or federal Oracle shared service providers on an Oracle EBS R12.2 platform or higher. 
  • Experienced in managing Design and Operational technical teams that support enterprise Oracle Fusion Middleware platform with over 300,000 users in production environments. 
  • Able to spearhead a diverse range of tasks needed for the project or contract. 
  • Must demonstrate a respectful demeanor.   
  • Experience with presenting material to senior-level officials
Preferred Qualifications
  • DoD contract experience. 
  • Military trained.

 

Clearance:

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or higher.

 

Education & Experience:

 

  • BS/BA or higher degree in Engineering, Finance or Business.  
  • 10 years of Database management experience. 
  • In lieu of a degree, 4 or more years of relevant experience may suffice.

Location:

  • Remote but must be able to meet on Ft. Belvoir on a 24/48 hour notice
  • Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Schedule flexing is available with the PM’s approval. 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work.  Ability to sit for extended periods (e.g., at a desk or computer)
  •  Manual dexterity; typing, using a mouse, handling documents or digital tools. 
  • Close vision; working on screens, reading documents, charts, schedules. 
  • Standard hearing. 
  • Clear Communications; presenting, leading meetings, coordinating with stakeholders. 
  • Light lifting: occasionally lifting items under 10-15 bld. (e.g., laptop, notebooks.)

 

Travel:

 

  • Periodic travel to the customer site at Ft. Belvoir, VA.
