Staff Quality Engineer – Optical Systems

Location: Flexible (Shenzhen). This role allows the flexibility to work from home, within proximity to an office location.

The Role

As a Staff Quality Engineer – Optical Systems for GoPro, you will be responsible for helping to ensure both the quality of incoming materials from lens suppliers and the quality of the final product throughout its entire lifecycle.  This involves working with suppliers to improve their processes, conducting audits, and analyzing data to identify and resolve quality issues. Additionally, you will work with the product development and manufacturing teams to ensure quality is built into the product from the start and maintained throughout production. 

What You Will Do

• Responsible for the optical parts quality, issue resolution during NPI and MP(SCAR/8D).
• Lead and drive supplier to keep improving the overall yield to hit the target from PVT to MP.
• Ensure cosmetic is clear and aligned between supplier OQC and CM IQC for optical parts.
• Validate and align the parts inspection plan both in supplier OQC and CM IQC.
• Review and buyoff supplier PPAP. Manage supplier SPCN process.
• New supplier qualification Approved suppliers regular audit.
• Drive supplier to develop Quality Continuous Improvement Program, bring up supplier quality performance in a higher level.
• Define product validation plans, test methods and criteria in collaboration with cross functional teams.
• Participate in post product launch efforts and early field failure analysis to establish root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Facilitate failure analysis during NPI stages, validate/analyze test data, suggest solutions and make recommendations toward product release.
• Develop and present management reports highlighting product risks, actions and recommendations.
• Product Risk Analysis (DFMEA) and Product Quality Plans (PQP), review manufacturing assessment and qualification, support development of inspection documentation and test methods as they will impact product quality and performance.
• Achieve GoPro quality standards by utilizing tools and techniques including statistical analysis, SPC, DOE, DFx, and project tracking software (Jira).
• Evangelize the continuous improvement efforts related to NPI and sustaining processes.

Skills We’re Excited About

• Familiar with optical lens quality & manufacturing requirement is MUST.
• 6+ years optical quality experience in CM or ODM. Plus 3+ years quality job experience in lens manufacturer.
• Familiar with quality/engineering tools of FACA, 8D, 5why, DOE, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, MSA.
• Strong failure analysis and root cause determination skills.
• Solid problem solving and communication skills 
• Professional working proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Possesses strong leadership skills and can work effectively without supervision.
• Willing to travel inside China and oversea as needed. 

Bonus Points For

• PQE job experience, or willing to learn PQE job to extend the coverage.
• Six sigma experience and is highly desirable
