Job description

Summary

We’re seeking a bold, customer-obsessed Product Lead to join our Product team, focused on our patient experience portfolio. In this role, you’ll drive strategy and execution for one or more key programs aimed at helping patients feel confident, informed, and supported as they explore, access, and act on genetic testing.

You’ll shape solutions that span digital, physical, and human-supported touchpoints, and whether patients come to GeneDx through their provider, ecosystem partners, or a self-initiated search, your goal is to ensure their experience is streamlined, empowering, and tailored to their needs.

We aim to structure roles for durability, mobility, and growth. Over time, you may rotate across programs. We’re looking for a collaborative leader who can thrive in a fast-moving environment with cross-functional dependencies.

Job Responsibilities

  •  Lead program strategy and roadmap development for one or more major initiatives within our provider experience portfolio
  • Translate high-level vision into clear, prioritized projects and milestones that move the needle for patients and families
  • Deliver foundational product artifacts such as:
    • Strategy documents, customer insights summaries, and business cases
    • Market & Product Requirements Documents (MRD, PRD)
    • Prototypes and target product profiles
    • Current and future state journey maps and service blueprints
    • MVP definitions and success measurement frameworks
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, PMO, and other executional teams to ensure delivery excellence and system alignment
  • Champion the voice of the patient and their families and reflect their needs in every stage of product development
  • Leverage quantitative and qualitative inputs to drive prioritization, measure impact, and continuously refine product strategy
  • Ensure operational alignment, partnering with Commercial, Marketing, Clinical Product, Legal, Regulatory, Lab Ops, and Customer Services
  • Actively shape product strategy and culture by sharing learnings, mentoring peers, and building repeatable frameworks

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • 6+ years of experience in product management, ideally focused on digital health, wellness, diagnostics, or direct-to-consumer platforms
  • Experience leading cross-functional execution for complex programs involving external customers and internal operations
  • Experience building tools, communications, and/or journeys that support patient onboarding, education, communication, or behavioral change
  • Proven ability to synthesize data, insights, and stakeholder input into compelling strategies
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, balancing multiple priorities, and adapting quickly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with strong collaboration skills—adept at working with Engineering, Product Design, Clinical Product, Commercial, and Ops
  • Deep empathy for end users—patients, caregivers, providers, and care teams—and a commitment to making their experience simpler, faster, and more empowering.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, digital transformation, human-centered design, and modern product discovery/delivery practices.
  • A sense of ownership, humility, and mission-driven motivation to improve lives through better healthcare.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferred fields include Public Health, Human-Centered Design, Communications, Behavioral Science, or related
  • Master’s degree preferred

At GeneDx, we create, follow, and are informed by cutting-edge science. With over 20 years of expertise in diagnosing rare disorders and diseases, and pioneering work in the identification of new disease-causing genes, our commitment to genetic disease detection, discovery, and diagnosis is based on sound science and is focused on enhancing patient care.

Experts in what matters most.

With hundreds of genetic counselors, MD/PhD scientists, and clinical and molecular genomics specialists on staff, we are the industry’s genetic testing experts and proud of it. We share the same goal as healthcare providers, patients, and families: to provide clear, accurate, and meaningful answers we all can trust.

SEQUENCING HAS THE POWER TO SOLVE DIAGNOSTIC CHALLENGES.

From sequencing to reporting and beyond, our technical and clinical experts are providing guidance every step of the way:

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • High-quality testing: Our laboratory is CLIA certified and CAP accredited and most of our tests are also New York State approved.
  • Advanced detection: By interrogating genes for complex variants, we can identify the underlying causes of conditions that may otherwise be missed.

CLINICAL EXPERTISE

  • Thorough analysis: We classify variants according to our custom adaptation of the most recent guidelines. We then leverage our rich internal database for additional interpretation evidence.
  • Customized care: Our experts review all test results and write reports in a clear, concise, and personalized way. We also include information for research studies in specific clinical situations.
  • Impactful discovery: Our researchers continue working to find answers even after testing is complete. Through both internal research efforts and global collaborations, we have identified and published hundreds of new disease-gene relationships and developed novel tools for genomic data analysis. These efforts ultimately deliver more diagnostic findings to individuals.
