We are an Italian family-owned food company. And like all Italian families, we take food very seriously. We have been doing this for 147 years. Today we are committed to bringing people closer to the joy of good food and making quality the choice for a better life, from each individual to the planet.
Our origins date back to 1877, when Pietro Barilla opened a small bread and pasta shop in Parma: that moment marked the beginning of a story of passion for quality, continuous pursuit of excellent recipes and ability to combine tradition and innovation.
Today we are an international Group present in more than 100 countries through our brands: world leader for pasta, leader for ready-made sauces in Europe, for bakery products in Italy and for crispbreads in Scandinavia. We employ over 9,000 people and own 30 production sites in 10 countries which every year contribute to the production of about 2,000,000 tons of products.
We work every day to be the most reputable Italian food company worldwide, bringing to the world tasty, joyful and wholesome products - made with selected raw materials from responsible supply chains - reducing our impact on the planet and fostering open and caring dialogue in the communities in which we operate. This is our commitment to people and the planet we live on and it involves understanding our true essence and sharing it with people; it is the philosophy reflected in our purpose “The joy of food for a better life”.
At Barilla we empower people to live and work responsibly and ethically, embracing our value system of integrity, trust, courage, intellectual curiosity and passion. Moreover, we acknowledge diversity as a key factor to drive our future: that is why our people are invited to bring their authentic self to work and enjoy acceptance and understanding.
