Why This Role MattersOur success is built on data - but the opportunity now is to rebuild and transform that data into intelligence across all teams and clients.
We’re seeking a strategic, hands-on Data Leader to join our senior leadership team and take full ownership of our data strategy. You’ll architect scalable systems, lead a high-performance team, and create the infrastructure needed to support confident decision-making, automation, and innovation at scale.
This role goes beyond reporting — it’s about building the engine that powers the next chapter of Clever’s growth through infrastructure, business intelligence, and forward-looking capabilities like AI and predictive modeling.
What You'll Do
- Set and evolve the strategic roadmap for data infrastructure, business intelligence, automation, and the responsible integration of data science and AI capabilities.
- Build and scale a high-performance in-house data team — identifying key roles, driving hiring, enabling growth paths, and overseeing the development of internal training frameworks.
- Lead annual planning and departmental goal setting in collaboration with the executive team, ensuring data priorities align with company-wide objectives and revenue targets.
- Oversee the architecture and rebuild of our full data stack, including pipelines, warehouse design, and CRM integrations across platforms like BigQuery, Zapier/Make, and custom APIs.
- Design and implement a modern, self-serve data platform using Google Cloud Platform that supports real-time reporting, closed-loop marketing feedback, and predictive insights.
- Drive intelligent automation through CRM & Ad platform integrations that enable smarter decision-making across Paid Media, Marketing, and Client Services.
- Lead the development and refinement of all ETL/ELT processes, ensuring data is clean, reliable, and accessible across tools and teams.
- Enforce technical excellence through modern development practices: version control, peer code reviews, robust QA, and rigorous documentation.
- Champion data governance and master data management (MDM) to ensure long-term integrity, access control, and organizational trust in every report and insight.
- Stay on the cutting edge of AI, data science, and predictive analytics, bringing forward innovative yet practical solutions that scale with the business.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years in a data and analytics leadership role
- Deep familiarity with Google Cloud systems (especially BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Google Workspace tools)
- Experienced working with CRM/API integrations (Salesforce, LeadPerfection, custom workflows)
- Proven experience building and maintaining cloud-based data infrastructure (BigQuery or equivalent)
- Track record of leading data engineering teams and building robust data warehouses
- Strong understanding of data modeling, governance, and MDM principles
- Fluent in Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools
- Skilled in automating lead flows, attribution pipelines, and marketing operations
- Experience working with marketing teams
- Familiarity with client CRM platforms (Salesforce, LeadPerfection, ImproveIt360, etc.)
- Strong process builder with experience overhauling PM systems
What We Offer
- Fully remote with flexible working hours (with access to our Toronto office)
- Top compensation with a clear bonus structure
- 20 days PTO + 14 holiday/sick days
- Group health benefits, MacBook, and home office setup budget
- Ownership and autonomy over our highest-demand department
- Smart, driven, and ambitious teammates who are deeply collaborative
- Work Abroad Policy – flexible travel/work-life integration
- Bi-annual in-person leadership offsites
- Access to our internal executive coaches
- $1,000/month spending account for department or personal needs
