What you’ll do: 

Tangoe is seeking a talented and business-savvy Corporate Counsel to join our remote Legal team with a primary focus on data privacy, technology transactions, and regulatory compliance. This role will support strategic initiatives and daily operations by providing practical legal guidance, managing risk, and helping ensure compliance with applicable data protection and information security laws. 

 

You will work cross-functionally with teams across the company to negotiate technology-related agreements, navigate evolving privacy laws, and support our mission to streamline and safeguard enterprise technology. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Draft, negotiate, and advise on a variety of commercial contracts, including SaaS, software licensing, cloud services, and data sharing agreements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on data protection and cybersecurity laws such as CCPA, GDPR, and emerging U.S. state privacy regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess legal risk and support initiatives involving personal data use, transfer, and protection.
  • Develop and refine templates, playbooks, and guidelines for technology transactions and privacy compliance.
  • Provide legal support for incident response, vendor risk reviews, and consumer/employee data rights requests.
  • Help maintain and update external-facing documents such as privacy notices, terms of service, and contractual privacy terms.
  • Monitor legal developments related to data privacy and technology, and proactively recommend changes to policies or practices.
  • Assist with internal training and education on privacy principles, regulatory changes, and best practices.
  • Support broader legal initiatives and act as a generalist as needed in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Serve as a lead Tangoe negotiator of customer and vendor DPAs on legal-to-legal calls.

 

Who you are:  

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state and in good standing.
  • 5+ years of combined legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department. 
  • 3+ years of in-house legal experience required. 
  • Proven experience negotiating technology and data-driven contracts, with a high volume of DPA review.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. and international data privacy frameworks and compliance obligations.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience supporting sales organizations.
  • Able to work independently in a remote environment while building strong cross-functional relationships.


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Privacy certification (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPT, or CIPM).
  • Experience supporting privacy compliance for technology or SaaS companies.
  • Familiarity with contract lifecycle management tools and workflow systems.
  • Prior exposure to vendor management/onboarding and security assessments
