CA Pay Range (Annual):

$112,000.00 - $208,000.00

Join Nokia Network Infrastructure (NI) California as PIC (Photonic Integrated Circuit) Production Test Development Engineer, implementing and improving SW and HW solutions for large throughput, production-level testing of complex photonic integrated circuits (PICs)! Work with a team of experienced PIC test engineers and PIC developers to grow and adapt PIC Test to the demands of the rapidly expanding coherent and linear-drive pluggable module market.

Key Responsibilities

Technical leader supporting state-of-the-art Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) high volume production test; interacting with multiple teams, including Operations, Product Integration Engineering (PIE), Test Maintenance Engineering (TestMe), Product Engineering (PE), and so on, on test yield improvement.

  • Lead implementation and document test hardware and software solutions supporting volume production test at the COC (Chip-on-Carrier) level.
  • Debug and robust testingof hardware and software for high-throughput production
  • Own extensive test station qualification work, including gage repeatability & reproducibility (GRR) and statistical process control (SPC)
  • Expand existing test hardware to fully automated production-level test solutions, including robotic handling/image recognition HW and SW
  • Provide feedback for test plans and algorithms of PIC performance validation tests for improvements.
  • Document all production test solutions and communicate clearly with other teams.

 
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Photonics or equivalent with 3+ years of applicable industry experience, or PhD. in the same field with a minimum of 3 years of applicable graduate-level and/or industrial experience in photonics
  • Basic understanding of active and passive semiconductor optoelectronic device characteristics (e.g. semiconductor lasers/amplifiers, photo diodes, modulators, waveguides)
  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor electrical and optical characterization techniques (e.g. diode characterization, laser threshold, spectral measurements, optical power measurements)
  • Programming experience in Matlab, C, C++, Python, LabVIEW, VB.net or similar for automation of instrument control and data acquisition
  • Software development skills and a strong drive for test automation and data analysis
  • Ability to build, maintain and troubleshoot complex test hardware and software in a cross-functional environment
  • Experience with a production-level test environment (including GRR, SPC, and tool qualification) is a plus.
  • Experience with database tools like JMP and SQL is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to produce detailed documentation
  • Ability to work within a team environment, clear and concise communication inside and outside the Test team
