Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

OpStart is looking for a Tax Senior to spearhead our tax service delivery. This position will play an

integral role in our client service teams with primary responsibilities for implementing tax compliance

processes and tax software and assuring complete and accurate tax filings.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

• Manage and execute on OpStart’s tax service offering, including contributing to strategy, pricing

and process

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns for C-Corps, S-Corps, and

Partnerships

• Prepare and review multi-state apportionment calculations

• Assist with the analysis, preparation and filing of R&D Tax Credits

• Execute key tax compliance processes, including the preparation of 1099s and Delaware

Franchise Taxes

• Provide support and guidance on all tax and compliance related matters, including federal,

state, and local income taxes, sales taxes, and payroll taxes

• Identify and resolve complex tax issues related to start-ups

• Develop and implement standard tax workpapers, process and approvals across team

• Work with OpStart’s accounting and other cross-functional teams to implement and improve

end-to-end tax processes and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure client compliance• Prepare, review, and provide feedback on draft income tax returns and reconciliations to the

financial statements

• Maintain strong client and internal team relationships and respond to client and internal

inquiries in a professional manner

• Communicate clearly and frequently on status of returns and filings, both internally and

externally

• Suggest and implement both tax-savings opportunities and tax strategies by working closely

with multiple client stakeholders

• Assist with federal and state tax audits

• Monitor and analyze proposed tax policy changes to evaluate impact and develop necessary

implementation plans

• Conduct tax research and prepare memos to support tax positions

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required

• 3+ years public accounting firm experience with a focus on taxation

• CPA license preferred

• Demonstrative knowledge and proficiency with tax compliance software, including CCH Axcess

• Experience with filing federal and state income taxes for C corporations, S corporations, and

partnerships

• Experience with multi-state apportionment

• Familiarity with other tax compliance matters such as 1099s, franchise taxes, sales taxes, and

payroll taxes

• Ability to remain current on IRS tax changes

• Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

• Desire to help others and provide extraordinary customer service

• Organized, efficient and tech-savvy

• Ability to develop and manage processes with limited oversight

• Excited to work in a fast-paced environment with a team of entrepreneurs
