Job description

We are hiring a User Experience (UX) Designer with strong experience in global consumer software-as-a-service (SaaS) products and can bring fresh ideas and industry insights to revitalize the user experience in our telecommunication products.

We operate on a hybrid schedule (a few days in the office each week) for hires located in Cebu or Manila, but we’re open to fully remote candidates from anywhere in the world, provided they are highly qualified for the role and can work with sufficient overlap with our team in the Philippines (+8 UTC). Relocation is also an option if you’re interested.

As a UX Designer, you’ll report to a manager and be part of our design team, comprising UX and content designers. Regular cross-functional collaboration with product owners, software engineers, and other stakeholders is also expected.

All our products are in the telecommunications and web industry, where we operate both as a value-add service platform provider and an infrastructure developer. We equip businesses with the infrastructure and tools to launch new telecom products and enhance the value they deliver to their customers. While the primary customers of our software suite are the Synacy & RISE Group’s own storefront brands, such as Monopond, UTBox, and RISE, it also serves third-party brands globally.

Our customers are businesses that access our products through a web browser. As a business-to-business (B2B) company, most of our users have business knowledge and technical backgrounds. They rely on our products as part of their day-to-day operations and expect the user interface to integrate efficiently into their workflows. We believe delivering a good user experience is just as important as ensuring the use of our products remains cost-effective.

What you will be doing:

As a UX Designer in our software team, you will:
  • Participate in establishing and implementing a design system
  • Ensure that user research and design activities align with the overall product strategy
  • Produce and maintain digital artifacts (e.g., design/content assets, drafts, prototypes) while upholding usability and accessibility requirements
  • Create mockups and prototypes to test concepts with stakeholders and customers, and to guide implementation by software teams
  • Review recently implemented features and provide usability feedback
  • Design features and interactions that integrate seamlessly into users’ workflows
  • Evaluate alternative design options and make recommendations, considering performance, security, usability and accessibility
  • Maintain documentation that explains design decisions (e.g., recommendations, decision logs, and future considerations)
  • Facilitate design workshops covering visual design, information architecture, usability, and functionality
  • Support customer and user inquiries when needed
  • Participate in design activities and hand-offs to deliver software that meets business needs
  • Conduct competitor analysis to ensure our products remain aligned with industry standards and trends
  • Perform heuristic evaluations of current products and use insights to recommend improvements

As part of our distributed team, you are expected to:
  • Maintain a dedicated workspace and necessary infrastructure to operate effectively in a remote setup
  • Schedule your work and manage expectations daily, with at least 4 hours overlap with the rest of the team
  • Use a stable, high-quality internet connection for video conferencing, with access to a backup connection in case of outages
  • Be available for video calls during established working hours
  • Be able to travel to our offices for on-site work, for up to 2 weeks at a time

Who you are:

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience in UX design roles, preferably in a global consumer SaaS company
  • Can create User Interface (UI) designs and user flows using Figma
  • Can actively participate in the UX and UI design process and contribute to the design system.
  • Has a high-level understanding of Angular and other frontend frameworks, including their design implications and technical limitations
  • Is motivated to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to understand problems and co-create solutions
  • Can visualize abstract concepts and articulate how they would behave in a dynamic, interactive system over time.
  • Can explain design concepts clearly in both business and user-centric terms, and help others understand design principles
  • Experience in implementing UI designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and in the telecommunications industry (e.g.,messaging, internet services), is a strong advantage

As part of a distributed team, the following qualifications are required:
  • At least 2 years of experience in a fully remote, collaborative, and high-accountability environment
  • Strong self-discipline and work ethic.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective time management and the ability to minimize distractions while working remotely

What we offer:
  • A supportive, high-performing team culture similar to that of a sports team where teammates coach and learn from one another
  • A software engineering environment focused on building high-quality software products
  • An organization of autonomous teams empowered to explore solutions in a safe environment
  • Opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute to meaningful work
  • A front-row seat in a fast-growing global company with opportunities across software, technology, telecommunications, and the web
  • Flexibility and a wide array of health and well-being benefits to help you stay balanced
  • An opportunity to work with some of the best and brightest minds in the industry
