Position Overview:

We're seeking a Category Analyst supporting the Target business to join our exceptional team of individuals who are passionate about delivering uncompromising customer service and driving business growth for our vendors and retail partners. In this role you will execute category management principles and consumer insights to deliver brand and category growth while bringing to life actionable recommendations in creative and thoughtful ways. This position requires analytical thought and expertise to help drive strategic initiatives and tactics by utilizing various tools and systems. This role supports the Category Manager to help drive category initiatives, shelving principles, reporting, and analytics.


Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Contribute to the achievement of all Category business objectives and needs by providing support to Category Manager and CFT in category assortment, space management, and analytics
  • Administer all cadence-driven reporting, (i.e. weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.) analytics and garnering of insights in actionable form to Target audience and vendors (where applicable)—including ad hoc business needs and reporting
  • Manage delivery and processes around transitions, revisions, and additional ad hoc for category/buyer needs, ensuring accurate and timely execution
  • Assist in category review process to maximize category growth and performance
  • Develop recommendations to Category Managers and Buyers to drive the business forward
  • Support in POG build, proofing, and execution w/ Category Manager
  • Support in POG Room execution and process w/ Category Manager
  • Manage special projects and perform other duties as assigned


Job Requirements:

  • Successfully manage multiple projects, demands, and workloads across various businesses with a strong ability to demonstrate flexibility in prioritizing changing business demands and work within ambiguity
  • Ability to offer an unbiased category perspective and clear point of view
  • 2 years prior experience with hands-on analytical work 
  • Expertise in VIQ, JDA/Space Planning is preferred
  • Familiarity with syndicated data; Nielsen, IRI, NPD
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable creating presentations and presenting to clients
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to focus on the project or task at hand and consistently deliver error free results
  • Team player
  • Very strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task & manage competing priorities
  • Stay current on industry developments and trends 
  • BS/BA degree or relevant industry experience
  • Microsoft Office Suite

This is a hybrid position based in Minneapolis, MN requiring employees to be present in the office 3 days per week with flexibility to work remotely on other days.

The expected salary range for this position is $55,000-$60,000 annually. The exact salary is determined by a number of factors including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies & experience, and location.
