The Mental Health Therapist (Licensed/ASCW/LCSW/AMFT/PPS Credential) is primarily responsible for helping students to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally, through individual and group counseling and by collaborating with educators, parents, and other professionals to create a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment that strengthens connections between home and school. This role will work with students throughout the state of California both virtually and in person.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides individual and group counseling sessions to help resolve interpersonal or family problems that interfere with school performance, including crisis intervention consultation as needed.
  • Conducts interviews with students, family members, and school personnel to gather information required in order to assess students' social, emotional and behavioral adjustment to school and the community.
  • Maintains regular contact with students' parents/guardians to inform of student's progress, areas of difficulties and any changes or situations in home life that may affect school performance.
  • Provides timely input regarding Occupational therapy and attends Individualized Education Plans (IEP) meetings as needed in adherence to company, school, state and federal regulations and procedures.
  • Attends and participates in IEP team meeting, and actively participates in other team meetings when necessary to address specific student and parent concerns.
  • Collaborates with education and social services professionals to develop appropriate agency services of student and their families.
  • Collaborates with teachers, parents/guardians, district personnel, and services providers to find effective solutions to learning and behavior problems, always establishing and maintaining effective public relations and projecting a positive company image.
  • Assesses student progress through consistent review of classroom data collection and recording systems and provides applicable training and guidance to classroom staff accordingly in addressing student needs.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Master’s degree in Counseling with credential of School Social Work Specialist, or Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or related field meeting requirements for appropriate license or credential required
  • Accepted License or Credential:
    • Licensed Marriage Family Therapist
    • Licensed Social Worker
    • Pupil Personal Services Credential, in California, that authorizes counseling or school psychology, LCSW, ASCW, AMFT
    • Familiar with Google Suite, Zoom, IEP Platforms such as SEIS (preferred)
Working Conditions:

(Combination of In Person and Remote Settings)

  • Travel to Various Locations (as applicable)
  • Remote
  • Must have 15-25 hours per week available during business hours to serve students. (required)
