Job description

DCI Engineers – Spokane

DCI Engineers, a nationally recognized structural and civil engineering consulting firm with over 20 offices across the U.S., is currently seeking a full-time Survey Technician to join our team in Spokane, WA. While this role is primarily field-based, our “field to finish” approach means Survey Technicians are involved throughout the entire project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will bring strong field surveying skills and a desire to grow their knowledge in office-based tasks. This integrated model creates a hands-on, educational environment where technicians gain valuable experience under the guidance of a Professional Land Surveyor, supporting their path toward professional licensure—should they choose to pursue it.

Responsibilities of a Survey Field Technician:

  • Collaborate closely with Senior Land Surveyors and fellow Survey Technicians.
  • Independently collect field data for boundary, topographic, and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys under the direction of a Senior Crew Chief.
  • Perform field survey calculations, including rotations and translations in the field.
  • Conduct survey research and prepare boundary calculations from recorded documents for field crews to retrace property boundaries.
  • Take clear, organized, and legible field notes and photographs.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of field experience
  • Experience with survey equipment, GPS, Robotics, and Total Station
  • Ability to climb steep hills and carry less than 80lbs for extended periods of time
  • Exposure to Civil Drafting Software (AutoCAD / Carlson)
  • Ability to manage your time, juggling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Desire to provide excellent service and build client relationships
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Willing to travel throughout the Pacific Northwest
  • Clean driving record with ability to drive company or rental vehicles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-year Associate of Applied Science Degree (Geomatics)
  • 4-Year Bachelor of Science Degree (Geomatics)
  • Land Surveyor in Training License (LSIT)
  • Willingness to work towards LSIT, CST, and or FAA 107 pilot's license
  • Familiarity with Carlson Civil Survey CAD software
  • Familiarity with Carlson field equipment
