As an Estimator, you will be responsible for determining the overall cost of construction projects by estimating time, labor, materials, and product expenses to deliver high-quality construction projects on time and budget.

What You’ll Be Doing
Construction estimators should expect to perform many different duties, which can include:
Estimating
Work with architects, engineers, and the client's project team for the development of project cost estimates at each design stage gate (feasibility, concept, BOD, 60% and 90% Detailed Design, etc.)
Understand and read drawings, diagrams, and specifications to develop project cost estimates.
Perform material take-offs for all construction divisions (Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Automation, etc.) for use in developing the project cost estimates.
Estimate time, labor, and material required for construction activities to develop construction cost estimates.
Utilize the Genesis estimating database for the development of estimates. Engage contractors for confirmation of current market costs as needed.
Engage equipment vendors/manufacturers for confirmation of equipment costs based on the progress design drawings/specifications.
Visits construction sites to understand existing conditions, project constraints, and logistics that will impact the estimate.
Produces written basis of estimate documents to support early estimates before full design documents development.
Develop and issue budget estimates, concept estimates, and detailed line item estimates based on the completed level of design.
Participate in estimate review meetings with Architects, Engineers, and the Owners' Project team.
During Construction provide project support to review major contractor change orders. Evaluate change orders against latest updated drawing issues to confirm change order values are valid.
Procurement Support
Works closely with the construction project manager to oversee and coordinate the bid process for vendors and subcontractors.
Maintain working relationships with vendors, contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
Develop Scope of Work documents and attachments for use in bid packages for all construction divisions (Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Automation, etc.)
Generates requests for information based on subcontractor and vendor clarification requests and maintains pre-bid RFI log.
Review and compare vendor and contractor proposals and provide completed bid comparison forms for client review.
Hold de-scope meetings with vendors and subcontractors to gain clarity on bids.
Provides recommendations for awards to clients to award contracts.
Assists in project kick-off meetings to review project scope with subcontractors and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in an engineering or construction-related field is preferred
Minimum 3-5 years of construction estimating experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
Blue Beam experience
Knowledge of takeoff software and bid solicitation software
Effective and professional communication skills
Detail-oriented and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Time management skills prioritize responsibilities
Travel to the client is 5-10% for site visits to view existing conditions, bid walkthroughs, etc.
Work in person at the Blue Bell office 3-4 days per week. Remote work is permitted so long as the project needs/requirements are met.
