VitalSource®, is hiring a Solutions Engineer to contribute to our Customer Operations team located in Raleigh NC, Chicago IL, Franklin TN, or Boston MA (preferred locations). Applicants outside of these preferred locations will still be considered. There is a 25% travel requirement with this position.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Engagement & Solution Scoping
  • Demonstrates and advocates for our products and services with our clients 
  • Analyzes client RFPs to identify problems/red flags and provide sales with cost estimates and  technical language for proposals.
  • Communicates onboarding and integration processes to the customer prior to integration launch.
  • Provides advice and guidance to customers and internal stakeholders on the best solution and product fit for a client’s business needs. 
  • Communicates regularly with customers to develop an accurate understanding of needs for translation to internal stakeholders. 

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Establishes an understanding of the product line’s competitive technical landscape. 
  • Collaborates with product managers to align emerging client requirements with product roadmaps. 
  • Works with Sales & Customer Success teams to craft creative solutions to customer requirements. 
  • Partners with the product team to communicate effectively with clients’ engineering and technical staff.

 

Operational Excellence

  • Contributes to process documentation and continuous improvement efforts for technical onboarding and integration.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/leadership.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a technical, customer-facing role (e.g., solutions engineering, sales engineering, or technical consulting).
  • Prior experience with SaaS platforms and API-based integration projects is preferred.
Technical Skills:
  • Ability to build software solutions using modern web technologies.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming practices.
  • Experience working with one or more of the following technologies:
  • RESTful APIs
  • Javascript
  • Objective-C
  • Java
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • Familiarity with SSO, OAuth, or other common integration protocols preferred.
  • Understanding of the education technology market and digital content delivery systems.
  • Experience working in pre-sales or sales engineering capacity.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects efficiently.
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and business needs.
  • Comfortable presenting technical information to non-technical audiences.

Salary Range: $98,000 to $120,500
