The Opportunity
 
Adept Group is seeking a Packaging Engineer II (1099 Contractor) to add to our team! This candidate would have 3-5+ years of full packaging development or specification development experience. They would also have hands-on experience with Specright, as well as be comfortable with SAP and Microsoft Excel. 
 
This is a 1099 Contractor (Independent Contractor) opportunity for 3 months at number 40-hours per week.
 
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Create packaging specifications in Specright for insulation products (poly and corrugate).
  • Extract, validate, and consolidate data from SAP, Excel, and supplier communications.
  • Engage with suppliers to gather missing technical spec data. 
  • Adapt legacy formats and part numbers into Specright structures. 
  • Provide feedback on data field needs or system modifications. 
  • Act as liaison between the client, suppliers, and Specright team. 
  • Guide internal stakeholders on best practices in spec management and format integrity. 
Day to Day: 
  • Review spec needs.
  • Build and upload spec data into Specright.
  • Scrub existing SAP/Excel records for accuracy and alignment. 
  • Contact key suppliers to complete missing technical fields (weights, dimensions, materials). 
  • Suggest field customization or format adjustments in Specright. 
  • Meet weekly with team and participate in future integration sessions with Spec Squad (if applicable).
Requirements: 
  • 3–5+ years packaging engineering or specification development experience. 
  • Hands-on experience with Specright (spec creation, system navigation). 
  • SAP familiarity (to extract and verify part info). 
  • Strong independent work ethic and confidence in leading tasks without oversight. 
  • Effective communicator—must interface with engineers, suppliers, and vendors. 
  • Comfortable working with evolving specs and legacy data in Excel/SAP. 
Nice to Haves: 
  • Prior work in construction materials or industrial insulation preferred. 
  • Experience working on automation equipment packaging requirements. 
  • Ability to visit or familiarity with manufacturing environments. 
  • Experience with supplier onboarding or data harmonization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with EPR/compliance-driven spec documentation.
