Job description

Summary of Position: 

This Senior Administrator, Spatial Data is responsible for designing and maintaining the Enterprise Geospatial platform and spatial databases using the Esri ArcGIS Enterprise suite. The Senior Administrator, Spatial Data will design, develop, and implement data schema to support enterprise spatial database modeling and management, automation and scripting, and data extraction and integration. The position is responsible for the integration of internal and third-party data into enterprise spatial databases and supporting spatial data exchanges with other corporate data platforms. The position will also support the development, maintenance, and management of custom GIS scripts to support automation initiatives. The position will develop data process workflows and support data collection applications with an emphasis on data conversion, management, and integrating internal and third-party datasets. This position will support the Spatial Analytics and Data Science team with extensive data management practices and protocols and collaborate with multiple corporate technology and data asset stakeholders. 

 

Primary Job Responsibilities: 

 

  • Manage and support the full Esri technology stack including ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal, Server, Data Store) using SQL Server, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Server extensions including Image Server, GeoEvent Server, and GeoAnalytic Server.
  • Configure and administer federated server environments and web GIS applications. 
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain Enterprise spatial data models and databases in an Enterprise ArcGIS Server (SQL) platform for multiple data themes (e.g., geologic, operational, midstream, land, environmental, regulatory, cadastral, imagery).
  • Implement and maintain robust databases to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
  • Design and manage tiered spatial architecture environments and coordinate with IT to develop and adhere to corporate data systems strategies. 
  • Manage data inputs and workflows to facilitate efficient spatial data integration and support corporate data management initiatives.
  • Develop and automate processes to enhance spatial data collection and integration efficiency.
  • Integrate survey data from internal and external data sources into the Enterprise geodatabase environment and spatial projects as needed.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of GIS infrastructure and environment architecture.
  • Collaborate with system administrators and application stewards to ensure optimal performance of GIS hardware and network systems.
  • Ensure the accessibility and usability of spatial information for end-users.
  • Perform data quality assessment and control measures on existing and collected data, including topological and tabular data.  
  • Data creation and input, quality testing of GIS databases to ensure data quality and completeness.
  • Support raster data management for Esri server level applications and database management, including Esri Image Server applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand spatial data requirements and deliver effective data-driven solutions.
  • Adhere to Spatial standards for data management and deliverable development.
  • Participate in Spatial team meetings and outreach.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 


Knowledge/Skills/Competencies 

  • Esri ArcGIS Enterprise (SDE data management, SQL)
  • Esri ArcGIS Pro and extensions
  • Spatial data modelling, database version implementation and upgrades
  • Spatial data and process automation using scripting applications (Python, FME preferred)

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science/Information Technology, Environmental Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience. 
  • Master’s degree, Esri Technical certification, GIS certificate and/or GISP certification preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in spatial data systems and management required.
  • Proficiency in Esri ArcGIS Enterprise (Server) applications and extensions using SQL.
  • Proven experience in designing and maintaining spatial data models and databases.
  • Experience with REST APIs, web services, and system integration using Python or JavaScript.
  • Deep understanding of Esri ArcGIS Enterprise architecture and components.
  • Proficient in spatial database technologies (SQL Server).
  • Experience with scripting skills in Python (including ArcPy) and FME for automation and data transformation.
  • Experience managing GIS infrastructure in tiered architecture environments (Dev/Test/Prod).
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure related to GIS, including servers, storage, networking, and security.
  • Familiarity with best practices in spatial database backup, recovery, replication, and failover strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in oil and gas industry preferred.  
  • Ability to pass Civitas Resources pre-employment background investigation.


Travel & Additional Requirements:

  • Location: Work is performed at a CIVI location Monday through Thursday with the option of working remotely on Fridays.
  • Schedule: traditional 40-hour workweek or alternative schedule of 9-hour workdays Monday through Thursday and 4-hour workdays on Friday, as business needs allow and with manager approval.
  • Travel may be required to other Civitas offices and field locations.

Base Pay Range: $135,000 - $150,000
